Durham Bulls
The Durham Bulls are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. They are located in Durham, North Carolina, and play their home games at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, which opened in 1995. Established as the Durham Tobacconists in the North Carolina League in 1902, the team subsequently disbanded and restarted numerous times. After a 10-year hiatus, it was reestablished as the Durham Bulls and played in the North Carolina State League from 1913 to 1917. The Bulls were members of the Piedmont League from 1920 to 1933 and for a second time from 1936 to 1943. Durham competed in the Carolina League from 1945 to 1971. For the latter part of this stretch, they merged with a team from Raleigh, becoming the Raleigh-Durham Mets (1968), Raleigh-Durham Phillies (1969), and Raleigh-Durham Triangles (1970–1971). Durham Bulls Athletic Park
Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP, pronounced "d-bap") is a 10,000-seat ballpark in Durham, North Carolina, that is home to the Durham Bulls, the Triple-A (baseball), Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball. It is also home to the Duke Blue Devils baseball, Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Central University, North Carolina Central Eagles college baseball teams. Triple-A (baseball)
Triple-A (officially Class AAA) has been the highest level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States since 1946. Currently, two sports league, leagues operate at the Triple-A level, the International League (IL) and the Pacific Coast League (PCL). There are 30 teams, one per Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise, with 20 in the IL and 10 in the PCL. Morgan Ensberg
Morgan Paul Ensberg (born August 26, 1975) is an American former infielder in Major League Baseball. Ensberg bats and throws right-handed. He was previously a member of the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees. From 2011–12 he was the co-host of ''MLB Roundtrip'' on SiriusXM's MLB Network Radio. Hanes Field
Hanes Field was a minor league baseball and football stadium that was located on the campus of Trinity College (now the East Campus of Duke University) in Durham, North Carolina, named for P. H. Hanes. Hanes Field opened in 1913 and was home to the Durham Bulls from 1913 to 1925. Devereaux Meadow
Devereaux (or Devereux) Meadow was a minor league baseball stadium located in Raleigh, North Carolina. It was located on the north side of Peace Street (south, right field) between Dawson Street (east, left field), which was later merged into Capital Boulevard; and West Street (west, first base). The site had long been a playground. In 1938 the city decided to build a ballpark on the site. Durham Athletic Park, nicknamed "The DAP", is a former minor league baseball stadium in Durham, North Carolina. The stadium was home to the Durham Bulls from 1926 through 1994, the North Carolina Central Eagles and the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs. The DAP sits north of the downtown area of Durham, on the block bounded by Washington, Corporation, Foster and Geer Streets. Raleigh-Durham Triangles
From 1968 to 1971, the Durham Bulls baseball team played as the Raleigh-Durham Mets for the 1968 season, played as the Raleigh-Durham Phillies for the 1969 season, and played as the Raleigh-Durham Triangles for the 1970 and 1971 seasons. The team remained in the Carolina League. The team played at both Durham Athletic Park which was located in Durham, North Carolina, and at Devereaux Meadow which is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Durham Bulls were renamed because the team itself acquired the nearby Carolina League rival Raleigh baseball team and the Raleigh team merged into the Bulls.
