Dunwoodie is a neighborhood in Yonkers, New York, noted for being the home of St. Joseph's Seminary and College on Valentine Hill. Dunwoodie (proper) is located north of the Seminary, while Dunwoodie Heights includes the seminary and what is south of it. Dunwoodie also includes Yonkers' "Little Italy" and a public golf course. The Yonkers Raceway is close by, located in Wakefield Park, while the Cross County Shopping Mall is also close by, but located in the neighborhood of Kimball. St. Joseph's Seminary is located technically in the neighborhood of Seminary Heights, but it is colloquially known as Dunwoodie. The Bee-Line Bus System has bus stops near the Cross County Shopping Center and Yonkers Raceway. The neighborhood is also accessible by exit 3 on the I-87 ( Major Deegan Expressway). Yonkers Raceway & Empire City Casino, founded in 1899 as the Empire City Race Track, is a one-half-mile standardbred harness racing dirt track and slots racino located at the intersection of Central Park Avenue and Yonkers Avenue in Yonkers, New York, near the New York City border. It is owned by Vici Properties and operated by MGM Resorts International. History The original horse racing facility was opened in 1899 as Empire City Race Track by William H. Clark's 'Empire City Trotting Club. Clark died in 1900, and, with much litigation by his heirs over its proposed sale, the track remained closed for most of the next seven years except for special events. Bee-Line Bus System
The Westchester County Bee-Line System, branded on the buses in lowercase as ''the bee-line system'', is a bus system serving Westchester County, New York. The system is owned by the county's Department of Public Works and Transportation. History The system was founded on May 1, 1978, by the then Westchester County Department of Transportation to consolidate the bus system with thirteen private bus companies and has been given control over the buses, fare structure, routes, and services. By the 1980s, the bus system had an identity problem in who was providing the service. Cross County Center is an open-air shopping mall located at the junction of the NYS Thruway and Cross County Parkway, in the Kimball neighborhood of Yonkers, New York, United States. The mall is managed by Marx Realty and hosts over 100 stores and restaurants. Anchor stores are Macy's and Target. The mall features prominent specialty retailers such as Armani Exchange, Zara, Michael Kors, Guess, Invicta Watch, and Steve Madden, in addition to Showcase Cinemas.
