Dropkick Murphys
Dropkick Murphys are an American Celtic punk band formed in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1996. The current lineup consists of co-lead vocalist and bassist Ken Casey, drummer Matt Kelly, co-lead vocalist Al Barr (on hiatus from the band since 2022), rhythm and lead guitarist James Lynch, lead guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Tim Brennan, multi-instrumentalist and rhythm guitarist Jeff DaRosa and bassist Kevin Rheault. Casey has been the band's only constant member since the band formed. The band was initially signed to independent punk record label Hellcat Records; they released five albums for the label and built a reputation around New England and the East coast through persistent touring. They expanded their schedule to include national and international tour dates, and began a tradition of yearly St. Patrick's Day week shows, held in and around Boston. Ryan Foltz
Ryan Foltz is an American producer, audio engineer and musician from Mansfield, Ohio. Foltz is best known for being a member of the Dropkick Murphys from 2001 to 2003 where he played mandolin, tin whistle and dulcimer on the band's 2001 album '' Sing Loud, Sing Proud'' and 2003's '' Blackout'' before leaving the band. Foltz also was a member of Motel Blonde (bass) and also has played tin whistle, mandolin, and trumpet in The Pogues cover bandThe Boys From The County Hellfor over fifteen years. He was also a member of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps. The song is about the effects of drugs on individuals and their families. Although the title is an obvious play on words, as Massachusetts is a state, it is actually one of four states who are officially known as commonwealths. ''The Meanest of Times'' is the sixth studio album by American celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys. It was released on September 18, 2007, through their vanity label, Born & Bred Records, a division of Cooking Vinyl Records. The album was their first to not be released through Hellcat Records and their last to feature guitarist Marc Orrell, who left the band following the tour in support of the album. The picture on the album's cover was taken at Saint Brendan School in Dorchester, Massachusetts, close to Quincy, Massachusetts whence the band hails. Local kids posed in the picture. Songs The songs "(F)lannigan's Ball", "Fairmount Hill" and " Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya" are based on traditional Irish tunes. Tim Brennan
Tim Brennan is an American musician who is a lead guitarist, vocalist and one of the primary songwriters of the Boston Celtic punk group Dropkick Murphys. Early life and career Born in West Hartford, Connecticut, Brennan played drums for numerous punk, hardcore and rock bands in Connecticut where he graduated from Kingswood-Oxford preparatory high school in West Hartford CT in 2000 before moving to Worcester MA to attend Assumption University. While in high school, Tim had a teacher who gave him a Pogues cassette tape. Tim learned how to play the tin whistle while listening to that tape. Later, the same teacher gave Tim the Dropkick Murphys album ''Do or Die'' thus fully introducing Tim to Celtic punk music. In 2003, Brennan was asked to join the Dropkick Murphys on tour to sell merchandise on the Warped Tour. While on tour they had him play accordion on a few songs. National ShamrockFest, also commonly referred to as ''ShamrockFest'', is a one-day music festival held in Washington, D.C. to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day.ShamrockFestis held in a very large, paved, parking-lot type of area at Robert F. Marc John Orrell (born November 7, 1982) is an American guitarist known for being a former member of the Boston Celtic punk band the Dropkick Murphys. Nicknamed "The Kid", Orrell joined the band in 2000 when he was 17 years old. He first appeared on their 2001 album '' Sing Loud, Sing Proud'' and would appear on 2003's '' Blackout'', 2005's ''The Warrior's Code'' and 2007's ''The Meanest of Times'', his final album with the group before leaving the band following the tour in January 2008 to pursue a different musical style.
