Dredd Vs Death
''Judge Dredd: Dredd vs. Death'' is a first-person shooter video game based on the Judge Dredd character from the '' 2000 AD'' comic series, developed by Rebellion Developments. Gameplay The game is played from a first-person perspective. The singleplayer campaign is made up of eleven levels in which the player takes the role of Judge Dredd and battles a series of criminals and undead vampires. Easy, Normal and Hard difficulty levels are available, as well as a cooperative mode. The game features a 'law meter' which gauges the player's adherence to the laws of Mega-City One. Completing objectives and arresting criminals raises the law meter; attacking criminals without first challenging them to surrender will deplete the law meter. Attacking Judges, civilians, and criminals that have surrendered will also deplete the law meter, with a more severe penalty if they are killed. Rebellion Developments Limited is a British video game developer based in Oxford. Founded by Jason Kingsley (businessman), Jason and Chris Kingsley in December 1992, the company is best known for ''Sniper Elite'' and multiple games in the ''List of Alien, Predator and Alien vs. Predator games, Alien vs. Predator'' series. Sister company Rebellion Publishing has published comic books since 2000, when it purchased ''2000 AD (comics), 2000 AD'', the publisher of characters such as Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper. In the 2010s the studio saw growth and success with their ''Sniper Elite'' series of games. The series has spanned 5 mainline installments and multiple spin-offs, including the ''Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army'' entries. Their latest title, ''Atomfall'', was released on March 27, 2025. Mega-City One
Mega-City One is a fictional city that features in the ''Judge Dredd'' comic book series and related media. A post-nuclear megalopolis covering much of what is now the Eastern United States and some of Canada, the city's exact geography depends on the writer and artist working the story. From its first appearance it has been associated with New York City's urban sprawl; originally presented as a future New York, it was retconned as the centre of a "Mega-City One" in the third issue. The ''Architects' Journal'' placed it at No. 1 in their list of "comic book cities". Development When the series ''Judge Dredd'' was being developed in 1976–77 it was originally planned that the story would be set in New York, in the near future. However, when artist Carlos Ezquerra drew his first story for the series, a skyscraper in the background of one panel looked so futuristic that editor Pat Mills instructed him to draw a full-page poster of the city.
