Dreamwave
Dreamwave Productions was a Canadian art design studio and comic book publisher founded in 1996. Best known for its comic book adaptations of ''Transformers'', the company shut down on January 4, 2005. History Brothers Pat Lee and Roger Lee founded Dreamwave Productions in Toronto, Canada in 1996 as an imprint under Image Comics, publishing their first mini-series ''Darkminds''. Pat maintained artistic control while Roger managed the business operations. Dreamwave split off from Image Comics in April 2002. Dreamwave acquired the license for the ''Transformers'' toyline from Hasbro in December 2001. The first mini-series, written by Chris Sarracini & drawn by Pat Lee and based on the '' Transformers: Generation 1'' characters, was the top-selling book on the sales charts for its entire run. Transformers (comics)
There have been four main publishers of the comic book series bearing the name ''Transformers'' based on the Transformers (toy line), toy lines of the same name. The first series was produced by Marvel Comics from 1984 to 1991, which ran for 80 issues and produced four Spin-off (media), spin-off miniseries. This was followed by a second volume titled ''Transformers: Generation 2'', which ran for 12 issues starting in 1993. The second major series was produced by Dreamwave Productions from 2002 to 2004 with multiple limited series as well, and within multiple story continuities, until the company became bankrupt in 2005. The third and fourth series have been published by IDW Publishing with the third series starting with an issue #0 in October 2005 and a regular series starting in January 2006 to November 2018. Pat Lee (comics)
Patrick Lee (born June 28, 1975) is a Canadians, Canadian comic book artist, publisher, former president, and co-founder of the now-defunct Dreamwave Productions. 2008-05-29. Biography Lee began his career in the comic book industry by sending sample artworks to Marvel Comics, Marvel and DC Comics, DC editors after graduating high school at the age of 16, but they did not take any interest in his artwork. In 1994, he caught the attention of Image Comics co-founder Rob Liefeld at a convention in Toronto, Canada. Four months later, he was hired by Image Comics and went to train at Extreme Studios. There he practiced his speed, which greatly influenced his future works. In an interview with Wizard Magazine, Wizard he stated, "When I was working there, I'd have work slapped down at me. It's gotta be done today. I'd hear, and I figured, okay, this is something I've gotta get used to." Warlands
''Warlands'' is a fantasy comic book series from the now-defunct production house, Dreamwave Productions, created by Pat Lee. It consists of four main series and several side stories. Warlands series have been published by Image Comics and Dreamwave Productions own publishing company. A series of action figures was also released by D-Boy Toys in 2000. Comic books The series was first published by Image Comics beginning in August 1999 for a twelve issue run. Follow up series ''Warlands: The Banished Knight'' and ''Warlands: The Age of Ice'' were initially published by Image before Dreamwave began to publish their own comics in 2002. The final series to be published, ''Warlands: Dark Tide Rising'' was launched in December 2002 and was the only Warlands series solely published through Dreamwave. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Dreamwave Productions)
''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' is a comic book published by Dreamwave Productions in 2003. The first four stories are based on episodes of the 2003 ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' television series, but told from the view of supporting characters, before the creation of new stories, just as the original issues of ''TMNT Adventures'' followed the 1987 TV series before developing new stories. The series ran for seven issues before it was cancelled as Dreamwave went out of business. Transformers (toy Line)
''Transformers: Generation 1'' (also known as ''Generation One'' or ''G1'') is a toy line from 1984 to 1990, produced by Hasbro and Takara Tomy. Inaugurating the successful ''Transformers'' toy and entertainment franchise, the line of toy robots could change into an alternate form (vehicles such as cars and planes, miniature guns or cassettes, animals, and even dinosaurs) by moving parts into other places. The line was originally called ''The Transformers'', with "Generation 1" originating as a term coined by fans of the toys when the Transformers: Generation 2 toy line was released in 1992.
