Drač County
Drač County (/Drački okrug) was one of the counties of the Kingdom of Serbia established on 29 November 1912 on the part of the territory of Albania (toponym), Albania taken from the Ottoman Empire during the First Balkan War. Drač County had four districts (/Srez): Drač (Durrës), Lješ (Lezhë), Elbasan and Tirana. The army of the Kingdom of Serbia retreated from Durrës in April 1913. Establishment The Royal Serbian Army captured city of Durazzo () on 29 November 1912 without facing opposition. Eastern Orthodox Church, Orthodox Christian metropolitan of Durrës Jakob gave a particularly warm welcome to the new authorities. He also secured friendly relations with the Serbian authorities in the region. As such he successfully intervened to them and several Albanian guerrilla units were saved and avoided execution. The Kingdom of Serbia was a country located in the Balkans which was created when the ruler of the Principality of Serbia, Milan I of Serbia, Milan I, was proclaimed king in 1882. Since 1817, the Principality was ruled by the Obrenović dynasty (replaced by the Karađorđević dynasty for a short time). The Principality, under the suzerainty of the Ottoman Empire, ''de facto'' achieved full independence when the very last Ottoman troops left Belgrade in 1867. The Treaty of Berlin (1878), Congress of Berlin in 1878 recognized the formal independence of the Principality of Serbia, and in its composition Nišava District, Nišava, Pirot District, Pirot, Toplica District, Toplica and Vranje districts entered the Southern and Eastern Serbia, South part of Serbia. The Circle of Serbian Sisters ( sr-Latn, Kolo Srpskih Sestara) was a women's charitable society established in Belgrade in 1903. Among the founders of the society were Mabel Grouitch, Mabel Grujić, wife of Slavko Grujić, Slavko J. Grujić, Blanš Vesnić, wife of Milenko Radomar Vesnić, Milenko Vesnić, and after the May Coup (Serbia), May coup in Serbia (1903), the society was led by Nadežda Petrović, Delfa Ivanić, Draga Ljočić, Andjelija Stančić, Branislav Nušić and Ivan Ivanić. Regional organisations of the Circle of Serbian Sisters have been established in many areas where Serbs live. After the restoration of the Circle in 1990, the regional organisation Circle operates within the diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
