Dramatis
Dramatis are an English synth-pop band formed in the early 1980s. Chris Payne (vocals, keyboards), Rrussell Bell (guitars, keyboards), Cedric Sharpley (drums), and Denis Haines (keyboards) were all originally members of Gary Numan's backing band. They formed Dramatis following Numan's announced (but short-lived) retirement from touring in April 1981. They released seven singles and one album before disbanding in 1982. For Future Reference
''For Future Reference'' is the only studio album released by the British synth-pop band Dramatis. The album itself failed to reach the UK Albums Chart, however, one of the three singles released from the album, " Love Needs No Disguise" with Gary Numan providing vocals reached number 33 on the UK Singles Chart. The other singles from the album were "Ex Luna Scientia" and "Oh! Twenty Twenty Five"—titled "Oh! 2025" on the album. The album was reissued on CD in 2000 and retitled ''The Dramatis Project''. The reissue was also credited to Tubeway Army featuring Gary Numan, despite Numan's only contribution being the vocal to "Love Needs No Disguise". The album was made available again in 2014 as a digital download only, this time under the title ''Terrestrial Channels'' and with Numan as the sole artist credit. Chris Payne (musician)
Christopher John Payne is a British musician. He is known as a member of Gary Numan's backing-band and the co-writer of Visage's 1981 synthpop hit single " Fade to Grey". Payne plays keyboards and viola and also a number of medieval instruments. He formed the band Dramatis with other members of Numan's backing-band in the early 1980s. Payne has composed music for television and films and formed the band Celtic Legend. He has composed, scored, recorded and conducted his orchestral and choral works in London and Prague. Gary Anthony James Webb (born 8 March 1958), known professionally as Gary Numan, is an English musician. He entered the music industry as frontman of the new wave band Tubeway Army. After releasing two albums with the band, he released his debut solo album '' The Pleasure Principle'' in 1979, topping the UK Albums Chart. While his commercial popularity peaked in the late 1970s and early 1980s with hits including "Are 'Friends' Electric?" and " Cars" (both of which reached number one on the UK Singles Chart), Numan maintains a cult following. Denis Haines is an English musician, best known for his time on keyboards for the Hollies between 1983 and 1991. Haines first came to prominence with new wave band the Doll. He played keyboards for Gary Numan on the album ''Telekon''. Together with Chris Payne, Rrussell Bell and Cedric Sharpley, all of whom had been members of Numan's backing band, he formed new wave band Dramatis in 1981. The Rocket Record Company was a record label founded by Elton John, along with Bernie Taupin, Gus Dudgeon, Steve Brown and others, in 1973 in music, 1973. Rusty Egan (born 19 September 1957 in London) is the former drummer for the British new wave band Rich Kids. They were founded by former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock (bass guitarist and backing vocals, occasional lead vocals), with Steve New (guitarist and backing vocals, occasional lead vocals) and fronted by Jim Midge Ure (guitarist, lead vocals and occasional backing vocals and keyboards player), from their inception in March 1977 to their disbanding in December 1978. Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument.
