Dragoș Tudorache
Dragoș Tudorache (born 14 January 1975) is a Romanian politician of USR PLUS/ USR who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. Early career From 2000, Tudorache worked as the coordinator of analysis team in the Department of Rule of Law and Protection of Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Pristina. Between 2003 and 2005 he served as the Head of the Legal Department of the UN team of International Judges at the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). From 2005 until 2007, Tudorache worked at the Delegation of the European Commission in Bucharest, where he was responsible for legal and anti-corruption issues. In 2007 he joined the European Commission's Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs in Brussels. USR PLUS
USR PLUS was a Romanian progressive, liberal, and centrist political alliance active between 2019 and 2021. Established on 2 February 2019 solely as an electoral alliance between the political parties Save Romania Union (USR) and the Freedom, Unity and Solidarity Party (PLUS) it was initially called 2020 USR-PLUS Alliance (). The alliance was formed to participate together in the May 2019 European Parliament election in Romania. Subsequently, the two parties decided to sign a protocol for a political alliance for the 2019 Romanian presidential election and for the 2020 local and legislative elections as well. The alliance was dissolved when the two parties formally merged after a successful vote during an online congress on 15 August 2020 and the approval of this event by the Court of Appeal of Bucharest on 16 April 2021. Pegasus (spyware)
Pegasus is spyware developed by the Israeli cyber-arms company NSO Group that is designed to be covertly and remotely installed on mobile phones running iOS and Android. While NSO Group markets Pegasus as a product for fighting crime and terrorism, governments around the world have routinely used the spyware to surveil journalists, lawyers, political dissidents, and human rights activists. The sale of Pegasus licenses to foreign governments must be approved by the Israeli Ministry of Defense. As of September 2023, Pegasus operators were able to remotely install the spyware on iOS versions through 16.6 using a zero-click exploit. While the capabilities of Pegasus may vary over time due to software updates, Pegasus is generally capable of reading text messages, call snooping, collecting passwords, location tracking, accessing the target device's microphone and camera, and harvesting information from apps. The 2019 European Parliament election was held in the European Union (EU) between 23 and 26 May 2019. It was the ninth parliamentary election since the first direct elections in 1979. Freedom, Unity And Solidarity Party
The Party of Liberty, Unity and Solidarity (, PLUS) was a Pro-Europeanism, pro-European, liberalism and radicalism in Romania, liberal political party established on 26 October 2018, whose president was Dacian Cioloș, former Prime Minister of Romania from 2015 until 2017, elected on 26 January 2019. 2016 Romanian Legislative Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Romania on 11 December 2016. They were the first held under a new electoral system adopted in 2015, which saw a return to the proportional electoral system last used in the 2004 Romanian general election, 2004 elections. The Cioloș Cabinet was the 125th Government of Romania.
