Dragan Vaščanin
Dragan Vaščanin ( sr-cyr, Драган Вашчанин; born 22 December 1971) is a Serbian professional basketball coach. Coaching career In the early 2000s, Vaščanin was an assistant for FMP Železnik and Budućnost. In summer 2004, Vaščanin became a head coach for the Bosnian club Hercegovac Bileća. In August 2005, Vaščanin became a head coach for Napredak Kruševac. He got fired in December 2005. Two weeks later, he was named a head coach for Atlas. Vaščanin was a head coach of the Serbia men's under-16 team at the 2007 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship in Greece and the 2008 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship in Italy. He won the gold medal at the 2007 Championship. In the late 2000s, Vaščanin coached Nova Gorica (Slovenia), Radnički Basket, and Crnokosa. Coach (basketball)
Basketball coaching is the act of directing and strategizing the behavior of a basketball team or individual basketball player. Basketball coaching typically encompasses the improvement of individual and team offensive and defensive skills, as well as overall physical conditioning. Coaches also have the responsibility to improve their team by player development, strategy, and in-game management. Coaches also teach and inspire their team to be their best. Coaching is usually performed by a single person, often with the help of one or more assistants. Coaching tools A whiteboard, dry erase clipboard or tablet computer with a basketball court outline is often used mid-game to describe plays and provide an overview of the strategy of the opposing team. Coaches strategize and scout opposing teams and find ways to defeat them as easily as possible. 2007 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship
The 2007 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship was the 21st edition of the FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship. The cities of Ierapetra, Rethymno and Heraklion, in Greece, hosted the tournament. Serbia won the trophy for the first time since the dissolution of Serbia and Montenegro. Slovenia and Portugal were relegated to Division B. Competition system The tournament format changed from previously years. The sixteen teams were allocated in four groups of four teams each. The first three teams in each group qualified for the qualifying round. The last team of each group played for the 13th–16th position in the Classification Games. The twelve teams qualified for the qualifying round were allocated in two groups of six teams each. The results of the games between the teams in the preliminary round were taken into account for the ranking in the qualifying round. The two top teams of each group qualified for the semifinals.
