Dov Hikind
Dov Bernard Hikind (born June 30, 1950) is an American politician, activist, and radio talk show host in the state of New York. Hikind served as a Democratic New York State Assemblyman representing Brooklyn's Assembly district 48 for 35 years – from January 1983 until December 2018. Background and family Hikind grew up in a Haredi Jewish family in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, his father being a devout follower of the Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty. His parents were both Holocaust survivors, with his mother being liberated from Auschwitz. He has a BA from Queens College, and a MA from Brooklyn College. Hikind is married, and has three children: Yoni, Shmuel, and Deena. Yoni and Shmuel both work as social workers in the Jewish community in Brooklyn. New York's 48th State Assembly district is one of the 150 districts in the New York State Assembly. It has been represented by Democrat Simcha Eichenstein since 2019. Geography District 48 is in Brooklyn. It covers the community of Borough Park and portions of Midwood in Brooklyn. 1994 New York Gubernatorial Election
The 1994 New York gubernatorial election was an election for the state governorship held on November 8, 1994. Incumbent Democratic governor Mario Cuomo ran for a fourth term, but was defeated by Republican George Pataki in an upset victory. Pataki had previously been described by the ''New York Daily News'' as "a little-known Republican state senator." The conservative ''New York Post'' attributed the result to how voters "had grown tired of the 12-year incumbent Cuomo and his liberalism." George Pataki
George Elmer Pataki (; born June 24, 1945) is an American politician who served as the 53rd governor of New York from 1995 to 2006. He previously served in the State Legislature from 1985 to 1994, and as the mayor of Peekskill from 1981 to 1984.
