Douglas Emhoff
Douglas Craig Emhoff (born October 13, 1964) is an American lawyer who served as the Second ladies and gentlemen of the United States, second gentleman of the United States from 2021 to 2025. Married to the 49th vice president of the United States, Kamala Harris, who was the first woman in the role, and the Democratic Party's nominee for president in the 2024 United States presidential election, 2024 U.S. presidential election, Emhoff was the first second gentleman of the country. He was also the first American Jews, Jewish spouse of a U.S. vice president. Emhoff began his career as an entertainment lawyer. He was managing director of Venable LLP, Venable's West Coast offices and later became a partner at DLA Piper. He is also a distinguished visiting professor at Georgetown University Law Center. The second lady of the United States or second gentleman (SLOTUS or SGOTUS) is the informal title held by the spouse of the Vice President of the United States, vice president of the United States, concurrent with the vice president's term of office. Coined in contrast to "First Lady of the United States, first lady" – albeit used less commonly – the title "second lady" was apparently first used by Jennie Tuttle Hobart (wife of Garret Hobart, vice president 1897–1899) to refer to herself. Gorlice () is a town and an urban municipality ("gmina") in south-eastern Poland with around 29,500 inhabitants (2008). It is situated south east of Kraków and south of Tarnów between Jasło and Nowy Sącz in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship (since 1999), previously in Nowy Sącz Voivodeship (1975–1998).
