Doris Twitchell Allen
Doris Twitchell Allen ( Doris Frances Twitchell; October 8, 1901 – March 7, 2002) was a noted psychologist and the founder of Children's International Summer Villages (now CISV InternationalCISV. She specialized in development and psychodrama. Education After receiving degrees in Chemistry ( AB in 1923) and Biology ( MA in 1926) at the University of Maine, where she was a member of the national honorary society Phi Kappa Phi, she earned a PhD in Psychology in 1930 at the University of Michigan, and completed her post-graduate study at the Psychological Institute, University of Berlin, in 1932. Career Her career as a psychologist began as Director of the Field Laboratory at the Child Education Foundation in New York City (1932–1935). Old Town, Maine
Old Town is a city in Penobscot County, Maine, United States. The population was 7,431 at the 2020 census. The city's developed area is chiefly located on the relatively large Marsh Island, but its boundaries extend beyond it. Psychodrama is an action method, often used as a psychotherapy, in which clients use spontaneous dramatization, role playing, and dramatic self-presentation to investigate and gain insight into their lives. Developed by Jacob L. Moreno and his wife Zerka Toeman Moreno, psychodrama includes elements of theater, often conducted on a stage, or a space that serves as a stage area, where props can be used.
