Donald R. MacLeod
Donald Ross MacLeod (December 30, 1902 – October 20, 1976) was a Canadian politician. He represented the Electoral district (Canada), electoral district of Pictou Centre in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1956 to 1970. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia, Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia. Born in 1902 at Trenton, Nova Scotia, MacLeod graduated from Dalhousie University and was a druggist by career. He married Ivy Verona Phillips in 1935. From 1944 to 1946, MacLeod served as mayor of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. MacLeod entered provincial politics in the 1956 Nova Scotia general election, 1956 election, winning the Pictou Centre riding by 336 votes. He was re-elected in the 1960 Nova Scotia general election, 1960, and 1963 Nova Scotia general election, 1963 elections. Trenton, Nova Scotia
Trenton is a town located in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Founded in 1786, it is situated on the east bank of the East River of Pictou. The community gained its name in 1882 at the suggestion of a prominent citizen, Harvey Graham, after he visited Trenton, New Jersey. It was incorporated as a town on 11 March 1911. Economy Since the 1870s, the town's economy was tied to the TrentonWorks factory and its predecessors which occupies a large property along the East River of Pictou. This factory closed permanently in 2016 after various incarnations as a steel fabrication, railcar fabrication, and wind turbine tower fabrication facility. Since the late 1960s, the town has also been host to the Trenton Generating Station. The Executive Council of Nova Scotia (informally and more commonly, the Cabinet of Nova Scotia) is the cabinet of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. Almost always made up of members of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, the cabinet is similar in structure and role to the federal Canadian cabinet, though smaller in size with different portfolios. The Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, as representative of the King in Right of Nova Scotia, heads the executive council, and is referred to as the Governor-in-Council. Other members are selected by the Premier of Nova Scotia and appointed by the Lieutenant-Governor. Most cabinet ministers are the head of a department, but this is not always the case. New Glasgow is a town in Pictou County, in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada.
