Dominican High School is a private, Catholic high school in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, United States. It is in, but not funded by, the Archdiocese of Milwaukee as a college preparatory high school. Background Father Samuel Mazzuchelli, O.P. (1809–1864), an Italian native who preached and established churches throughout Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa, founded the my soninsinawa Dominican Congregation of the Most Holy Rosary. This congregation served as the foundation for Dominican High School. Dominican High School opened in September 1956, with 174 freshmen from 26 parishes. Although sponsored by the Sinsinawa Dominicans, the school was championed by two pastors, Peter E. Dietz, pastor of St. Monica Parish (1912–1947) and Farrell P. Whitefish Bay is a village in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 14,954 at the 2020 census. A suburb north of Milwaukee along the shore of Lake Michigan, it is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Samuel Charles Mazzuchelli, Order of Preachers, OP (November 4, 1806 – February 23, 1864) was a pioneer Italian Dominican Order, Dominican friar and Catholic missionary priest who helped bring the Church to the Iowa-Illinois-Wisconsin tri-state area. He founded several parishes in the area and was the architect for several parish buildings. Additionally, Mazzuchelli established several schools throughout the region, some of which have developed into local Catholic colleges. As part of this effort, he founded the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters. Diamond Louis Stone (born February 10, 1997) is an American professional basketball player for the Zavkhan Brothers of The League. He played one season of college basketball for Maryland before being drafted 40th overall in the 2016 NBA draft by the New Orleans Pelicans. High school career Stone attended Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. As a senior, he averaged 24.4 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. He finished his career with 2,193 points.
