Dom Speakman
Dominic Speakman (born 22 March 1994) is a former rugby league footballer who most recently played for Dewsbury Rams in the Betfred Championship. He previously played for St Helens in the Super League. Speakman also played for the Rochdale Hornets and the North Wales Crusaders in the third tier, and the Barrow Raiders, Dewsbury Rams and the Widnes Vikings in the Championship. Career His début Super League match was on his 19th birthday in the game against the Salford. He signed for Barrow Raiders in November 2013. The former England Under 16 and Under 18 International also appeared seven times for the Rochdale Hornets on Dual-Registration during 2013. The Championship, known as the Betfred Championship for sponsorship reasons, is a professional rugby league competition. It is the second-tier competition organised by the Rugby Football League, the governing body for the sport in England, and consists of 14 teams, with promotion to the Super League and relegation to the third-tier competition, League One. Super League
The Super League (officially known as the Betfred Super League due to sponsorship from Betfred and legally known as Super League Europe), is the top-level of the British rugby league system. At present the league consists of twelve teams, of which eleven are from Northern England, reflecting the sport's geographic heartland within the UK, and one from southern France. The Super League began in 1996, replacing the existing First Division and, significantly, switching from a traditional winter season to a summer season. Each team plays 27 games between February and September: 11 home games, 11 away games, Magic Weekend and an additional 4 'loop fixtures' decided by league positions.
