Ferrocarril Chihuahua Al Pacífico
The Ferrocarril Chihuahua al Pacífico (Chihuahua-Pacific Railway), also known as El Chepe from its reporting mark CHP, is a major rail line in northwest Mexico, linking the city of Chihuahua to Los Mochis and its port, Topolobampo. It crosses the Sierra Madre Occidental, part of the range that in the United States is called the Rocky Mountains. There is no road covering the trajectory. It runs , traversing the Copper Canyon, a rugged series of canyons that have led some to call this the most scenic railroad trip on the continent. It is both an important transportation system for locals and a draw for tourists. The tracks pass over 37 bridges and through 86 tunnels, rising as high as above sea level near Divisadero (the continental divide), a popular lookout spot over the canyons. Divisadero Street (commonly shortened to Divis, pronounced ) is a north–south city street in San Francisco, California. Beginning at the city's northern waterfront, it runs south, passing through the Marina District, Cow Hollow, Pacific Heights, and further provides the traditional boundary between several neighborhoods before terminating at 14th Street, near Buena Vista Park and Corona Heights Park. Background The road was laid out when the Western Addition was planned in the 1850s. It was initially the western city boundary. Cable cars along the street provided traffic which supported a vibrant commercial corridor in the streetcar suburb starting in the 1870s. Prior to 1909, the road was spelled as Street. ''Divisadero'' is a novel by Michael Ondaatje, first published on April 17, 2007 by McClelland and Stewart. Synopsis The novel centres on a single father and his children: Anna, his natural daughter; Claire, who was adopted as a baby when Anna was born; and Cooper (Coop), who was taken in "to stay and work on the farm"Ondaatje (2007) ''Divisadero'' at the age of four when orphaned. The family lives on a farm in Northern California where Anna and Claire are treated almost as twins, while Cooper is treated more as "a hired hand". After Anna begins a sexual relationship with Coop, an incident of violence tears the family apart. The book then details each of the characters' separate journeys through life post-incident and how they are all interconnected. Later in her life, Anna moves to France to live in a farmhouse once owned by the French poet Lucien Segura whom she is researching.
