Divadlo V Kotcích
The Divadlo v Kotcích, German Theater an der Kotzen, in English more usually Kotzen Theatre, was a Prague theatre and opera venue on v Kotcích street, which had its heyday from 1739 to 1783 as the second public opera theatre in Prague. Spoken plays and ballets were also presented there. For many seasons it was run by Italian impresario Santo Lapis, then Giovanni Battista Locatelli (opera director), Giovanni Battista Locatelli, who staged Ezio (Gluck), Gluck's Prague Ezio, 1750, and other works. Later impresarios who worked there include Gaetano Molinari (opera director), Gaetano Molinari and Giuseppe Bustelli. The more correct "Theater an der Kotzen" was often colloquially referred to as the "Kotzentheater," Kotzen being a Slavonic-German term for a market. Giovanni Battista Locatelli (opera Director)
Giovanni Battista Locatelli (7 January 1713 – 14 March 1785) was an Italian opera director, impresario and owner of a private opera company. Locatelli was court poet at Bonn in 1741. From 1748 to 1756 he presented opera productions in Prague, including works by Gluck to libretti by Metastasio. He presented other operas in Dresden as well in the 1750s. He went bankrupt in 1757 and left for Russia to relaunch his career as an impresario. In 1757 he and his troupe were invited to St. Petersburg. They put on an opera every week for the court, and two to three times a week they were allowed to give open public performances. The repertoire was mostly of Italian opera buffa, including one titled ''Sanctuary of the Gods''. The Empress and Grand Duke Peter each attended at least one performance. ''Ezio'' is an opera seria from the Early Classical Period in three acts composed by Christoph Willibald Gluck, staged in 1750 and revised in 1763. History Metastasio's libretto for this opera had previously been set by a number of composers, including Nicola Porpora (1728) and Pietro Auletta (1728), Hasse (Naples, 1730; Dresden, 1755), Handel (London, 1732) and Latilla (Naples, 1758). Gaetano Victor Molinari (November 23, 1928July 25, 2018) was an American lawyer and Republican politician from New York city. He represented Staten Island in the United States House of Representatives for four terms (1981–1989) and then served 12 years as Staten Island borough president (1990–2002). His daughter, Susan Molinari, also served as a U.S. Representative. Franz Anton von Sporck, Count (, ) (9 March 1662 in Lysá nad Labem or Heřmanův Městec – 30 March 1738 in Lysá nad Labem) was a German-speaking literatus and patron of the arts who lived in the province of Bohemia in what is now the Czech Republic. He was one of the most notable cultural and intellectual figures in central Europe in the early 18th century.
