The Disgrace of Gijón () is one of many names given in hindsight to the 1982 FIFA World Cup football match played at the El Molinón stadium in Gijón, Spain, on 25 June 1982, with West Germany beating Austria 1-0 and both teams advancing to the next round while Algeria was eliminated by the goal scoring tie breaker mainly due to having played its last game a day earlier without knowing how many goals would be needed. In German, the match is known as (lit. "Non-aggression pact of Gijón") or (lit. "Disgrace of Gijón"), while in Algeria it is called (, "Scandal of Gijón"), and in French: (lit. Wolfgang Dremmler (born 12 July 1954) is a German former Association football, footballer who played as a midfielder. A trained Metalsmith, metalworker, Dremmler was part of the Germany national football team, West Germany team that reached the 1982 FIFA World Cup final against Italy at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, Santiago Bernabéu. Altogether, he played in 310 Bundesliga matches (15 goals) for Eintracht Braunschweig and FC Bayern Munich, the club he joined in 1979 at the recommendation of Paul Breitner to win four Bundesliga and three DFB-Pokal, German Cup trophies until his retirement due to a knee-injury in 1986. Walter "Schoko" Schachner (born 1 February 1957) is a football manager and former player, who played as a forward. He made 64 appearances scoring 23 goals for the Austria national team. As he always brought chocolate to the games when he was a boy, he got the nickname ''schoko''. Horst Hrubesch (; born 17 April 1951) is a German professional football manager and former player who last managed the Germany women's national team. As a player, Hrubesch won three West German championships with his club side, Hamburger SV, as well as the European Cup title in 1983.
