Discovery Science (UK)
Discovery Science is a pay television network, operated by Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA. It targets several European countries' television markets. It primarily features programming in the fields of space, technology and science. The channel originally launched as Discovery Sci-Trek. Its programming is mainly in English and locally subtitled or dubbed. It is available through numerous subscription services across Europe. In some countries the advertisement and the announcements between programs are localized. Discovery Science, alongside DTX, ceased broadcasting in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East on 5 January 2024. The channel started to be removed from the TV operators from 1 January 2024. However, the channel continues to broadcast in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland, the Nordic region and the Netherlands. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. DMAX is a Spanish free-to-air television channel run by Warner Bros. Discovery. History At the end of 2011, the launch of DMAX, a specialty irritation television channel on documentaries and factuals fully owned by Unidad Editorial, was announced. The new channel replaced Veo TV on digital terrestrial television. DMAX began broadcasting on January 12, 2012. DMAX underwent its first transformation on September 12, 2016, when the channel added series and movies to its programming, and it required ownership and rights by Discovery, Inc. and rebranding it from Discovery MAX to DMAX. Discovery History is a Television in the United Kingdom, British channel with programming about history from Warner Bros. Discovery. History On 19 August 1998, Discovery announced they would launch several new digital channels to coincide with the launch of Sky UK, Sky Digital platform, one of which would be Discovery Civilisation Channel, which launched on 1 October 1998. Discovery Historia is a Polish television channel broadcasting history-related programmes. The channel was originally a joint-venture between Discovery Networks and TVN, but TVN left the venture in 2009. The Pan-European Animal Planet is a feed of the U.S. channel of the same name, which broadcasts to several countries in Europe, UK, Africa and the Middle East. The channel is broadcast in English, Czech, Hungarian and Russian. The HD feed also carries a Turkish audio track. Turkey has its own SD feed.
