Dirección General @prende.mx, formerly known as ''Dirección General de Televisión Educativa'', is the producer of educational programs of the Secretariat of Public Education of Mexico with origins dating back to 1968. Which are broadcast on the Edusat, an educational television network. Edusat is an portmanteau of "education" and "satellite". History The government of Mexico implemented Telesecundaria in 1968 to provide secondary education to students in rural areas through broadcast television channels, such as XHGC-TV in Mexico City. With the launching of the Morelos II satellite, ''Telesecundaria'' began transmitting on one of its analog channels in 1988. In 1994, ''Telesecundaria'' began broadcasting in a digital format with the advent of the Solidaridad I satellite, and Edusat was born and began transmitting on six channels. TV UNAM
TV UNAM (stylized as ''tvunam'' and ''tv•unam'', formerly written ''teveunam'') is an educational television network owned and operated by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City. Programming on TV UNAM generally consists of educational telecourse programs for UNAM students, plus public affairs, documentary and cultural programming. The Canal de Televisión del Congreso de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos (''Television Channel of the Congress of the United Mexican States''), shortened to Canal del Congreso (''Congress Channel''), is a television channel in Mexico that broadcasts the sessions of both houses of the Congress of the Union. XEIMT-TDT, known as Canal 22, is a television station located in Mexico City. Broadcasting on channel 22, XEIMT is owned by Televisión Metropolitana, S.A. de C.V., and operated by the Secretariat of Culture. Discovery Kids (stylized as DK) is a Latin American subscription television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery and headquartered in Miami, Florida, which started as a programming block on the Latin American version of Discovery Channel. It launched on 1 November 1996, with programming aimed for older children and preschoolers. It was owned by Discovery Networks Latin America and is one of two Discovery Kids-branded channels that remains airing (the other being Discovery Kids India). XHMNU-TDT is an educational television station owned and operated by the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL) in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Programming on XHMNU generally consists of educational telecourse programs for UANL students, plus public affairs, documentary and cultural programming. History XHMNU-TV was one of the first university-run broadcast stations in Mexico, signing on channel 53 in June 1990 under the auspices of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at UANL. "Telesecundaria+" is a system of distance education programs for secondary education, secondary and high school students created by the Federal government of the United Mexican States, government of Mexico and available in rural areas of Mexico, the country as well as Central America, South America, Canada and the United States via satellite (Solidaridad 1 and Satmex 5).
