Dinoša
Dinoša ( cyrl, Диноша; ) is a village in the municipality of Tuzi, Montenegro. It is one of several settlements part of the historical tribal region known as Gruda, inhabited by a majority of ethnic Albanians. Baca Kurti (c. 1807–1881) was an Albanian leader who participated in the Battle of Novšiće against the Principality of Montenegro. He is buried in Dinosha, Saint Michel's graveyard. Demographics According to the 2011 census, its population was 500. The Albanians of this village speak in the Gheg dialect of the Albanian language. The majority of the village are Muslims, with a small Catholic minority. Dinoša Mulberry Tree
The Dinoša mulberry tree is a mulberry tree in the village of Dinoša, Montenegro, which gushes water from its trunk after heavy rainfall. It is thought that groundwater from a spring forces its way through a cavity in the tree. The phenomenon first occurred in the 1990s, and is said to occur once a year. Background Dinoša is a village in the southeastern European country of Montenegro, around east of the capital Podgorica. The mulberry tree was estimated to be around 100 to 150 years old as of 2022. It is thought that there are underground springs which become overwhelmed with water during heavy rains, especially during the spring and autumn. Gruda is a Albanian tribes, Northern Albanian tribe and historical tribal region in southeastern Montenegro, just north of Lake Skadar, which includes the small town of Tuzi, in Podgorica. Tuzi Municipality
Tuzi Municipality ( / ; ) is one of the 25 Municipalities of Montenegro. The municipal seat is the town of Tuzi. The municipality is located about 10 km south of the capital Podgorica and consists of more than 40 distinct settlements. The municipality roughly encompasses the Montenegrin part of the Malesija (Albanian: Malësia) region. Geography and location Tuzi is situated to the northwest of Lake Shkodra, 10 km from Podgorica and 130 km from Tirana (Albania). Baca Kurti
Baca Kurti Gjokaj ( 1807–1881) was an Albanian leader who participated in the Battle of Ržanica against the Principality of Montenegro. Life Baca was born around 1807 in the village of Milješ (Milesh) in the Gruda tribal region near the town of Tuzi, to an Albanian highlander ( Malësor) family. Kurti was born and adhered to Roman Catholicism. In 1856, he became voivode of Gruda after putting down a band of rebels in Fundna. He also killed the brother of Marko Miljanov that year. He was one of 15 Ottoman delegates from northern Albania sent during the talks of the Congress of Berlin (13 June–13 July 1878). Apart from three guards from Mirditë, of the Catholic delegates included chiefs Çun Mula from Hoti, Baca Kurti from Gruda, Marash Dashi from Shkreli, Cil Vuksani from Kastrati, from Shala, Mark Kola from Shosha and Con Geda from Shllaku. Bosniaks are an ethnic minority in Montenegro, first introduced in the 2003 census. According to the last census from 2023, the total number of Bosniaks in Montenegro was 58,956 or 9.45% of the population. Montenegrins (, or ) are a South Slavic ethnic group that share a common ancestry, culture, history, and language, identified with the country of Montenegro. Montenegrins are mostly Orthodox Christians; however, the population also includes Catholics, Muslims and irreligious people. The Montenegrin language is the official language of Montenegro. Albanians in Montenegro (; ) are ethnic Albanians who constitute 4.97% of Montenegro's total population.
