Dimitri (clown)
Dimitri Jakob Muller (18 September 1935 – 19 July 2016), known as Dimitri was a Swiss clown and mime artist. He later changed his name to Jakob Dimitri. Career Dimitri was born in Ascona, Switzerland in 1935. When he was seven years old he decided he wanted to become a clown. After graduating from school, Dimitri became an apprentice potter while studying music and theater. He went to Paris to study under Etienne Decroux, then Marcel Marceau. In 1959, he was hired as an Auguste by Louise Maisse, a whiteface clown. He then created his own solo mime act which was received with much acclaim during the 1962 International Mime Festival in Berlin. In 1971, Dimitri founded with his wife Gunda a theater. In 1975, he founded the ''Scuola Teatro Dimitri'' in Verscio, now Terre di Pedemonte. It is a small performing arts college in the Swiss national higher education system. Combining an education at the State Academy for Circus Arts in Budapest and at New York’s Juilliard School, David Dimitri performed his wire dances at circuses, arts festivals, and concert halls throughout the world – Canada’s Cirque du Soleil, New York’s Big Apple Circus, Switzerland's Circus Knie, and the Metropolitan Opera under the direction of Jean-Pierre Ponnelle. Charles Patton Dimitry (July 31, 1837 – November 10, 1910) was an American author, poet, journalist, inventor, historian and Confederate soldier. He was mixed race Creole and the second son of author and diplomat Alexander Dimitry and also the grandson of Marianne Celeste Dragon. His catalog features a massive amount of literary publications one of his most notable works was ''The House in Balfour Street'' published in 1868. Andrea Dimitry (January 1775 – March 1, 1852), also known as Andrea Drussakis Dimitry, was a Greek refugee who emigrated to New Orleans (in Spanish colonial Louisiana) and became a merchant. Alexander Dimitry (February 7, 1805 – January 30, 1883) was an American author, diplomat, educator, journalist, lawyer, orator, and publicist. He was the first state superintendent of public instruction in Louisiana and represented the United States as Ambassador to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. He was the first person of color to hold both offices and despite his mixed heritage (quadroon), he was one of the few people of color to serve in the bureaucracy of the Confederate Government. Alexander generally passed as white but still witnessed countless incidents of racism. Two major incidents involving his family were documented in court entitled ''Forstall, f.p.c. v. Brigadier Dimitry Dimitrievitch Zvegintzov () (25 January 1911 – 23 April 1984) was a senior British Army officer. Biography Zvegintzov was born in Russia into an aristocratic family, the son of Colonel Dimitry Ivanovitch Zvegintzov (1880–1967) and Princess Maria Obolensky (1882–1947), the daughter of Ivan Mikhailovich Obolensky. During the Russian Revolution of 1917, his family moved to England, fearing the repercussions of the Bolshevik takeover. He was subsequently educated at Bloxham School, where he was nicknamed "Zog", and served as drum major in the Officers' Training Corps band, with the rank of Cadet Serjeant. Saint Demetrius (or Demetrios) of Thessalonica (, ), also known as the Holy Great-Martyr Demetrius the Myroblyte (meaning 'the Myrrh-Gusher' or 'Myrrh-Streamer'; 3rd century – 306), was a Greek Christian martyr of the early 4th century AD. Dmytro Dmytrovych Sydor (, also known as Pop Sydor (), born March 29, 1955, in Mukachevo Raion) is a Rusyn archpriest of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Uzhhorod.
