''Different Gear, Still Speeding'' is the debut studio album by English rock band Beady Eye, initially released in Japan on 23 February 2011, and released in the UK on 28 February 2011. It debuted at number three in the UK Albums Chart selling 66,817 in the first week. As of August 2012, the album has sold 174,487 copies in the UK. On ''Different Gear, Still Speeding'', all members contributed to the instrumentation, much like the later albums of Oasis. Critical reception Reviews of the album have been generally mixed-to-favourable. According to review aggregator site Metacritic, the album has an average score of 65%. Reviewing for ''Rolling Stone'', Stacey Anderson, who gave the album 2.5 out of 5 stars, said "On Different Gear, the band attempts stripped down, Stones-y rock but ends up with 'Be Here Now'-style guitar bluster and Liam's blithely boilerplate lyrics". Beady Eye
Beady Eye were an English rock band formed in London in 2009 by former Oasis members Liam Gallagher (vocals), Gem Archer (guitar) and Andy Bell (guitar), and former Oasis touring musician Chris Sharrock (drums). The band was created when Oasis' lead guitarist and primary songwriter Noel Gallagher quit in August 2009, after which the remaining members decided to rename themselves and continue making music. Jeff Wootton joined as bassist until his departure in 2013; former Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler replaced him. The band released two studio albums'' Different Gear, Still Speeding'' (2011) and '' BE'' (2013)both of which reached the top 5 on the UK Albums Chart, though they had only one UK top 40 single with "The Roller", which peaked at No. 31. Noel Thomas David Gallagher (born 29 May 1967) is an English musician, singer and songwriter.
