''Die Pretty, Die Young'' is the second album by the band Tormé Tormé were a band featuring Irish guitarist Bernie Tormé, whom the band was named after. Tormé's singer was Phil Lewis (musician), Phil Lewis, who had previously been in the bands Girl (band), Girl and Phil Lewis (musician), New Torpedos, a ..., which was released in 1987 and recorded in 1986-87. Shortly after this album, singer Phil Lewis joined the band L.A. Guns. Tormé
Tormé were a band featuring Irish guitarist Bernie Tormé, whom the band was named after. Tormé's singer was Phil Lewis (musician), Phil Lewis, who had previously been in the bands Girl (band), Girl and Phil Lewis (musician), New Torpedos, and who is now in L.A. Guns. The band also featured bassist Chris Heilmann, who later played for Shark Island, and drummer Ian Whitewood. Tormé recorded the albums ''Back To Babylon'' and ''Die Pretty, Die Young''. Tormé recorded a song titled "Sex Action" on their album ''Die Pretty, Die Young'', but it is not the same song that L.A. Guns later recorded on their self-titled album. A later line-up of Bernie Tormé, Chris Jones, John Pearce (JJ Kaos) and Gary Owen recorded the album ''Demolition Ball'' for the Bleeding Hearts label in 1993. Glam metal (also known as hair metal or pop metal) is a subgenre of heavy metal that features pop-influenced hooks and guitar riffs, upbeat rock anthems, and slow power ballads. It borrows heavily from the fashion and image of 1970s glam rock. Early glam metal evolved directly from the glam rock movement of the 1970s, as visual elements taken from acts such as T. Rex, the New York Dolls, and David Bowie (and to a lesser extent, the Punk rock#New York City, punk and New wave music, new wave movements taking place concurrently in New York City) were fused with the decidedly more heavy metal leaning and theatrical acts such as Alice Cooper and Kiss (band), Kiss. Phil Lewis (musician)
Philip Francis Lewis (born 9 January 1957) is an English musician, best known as the vocalist and guitarist for the American glam metal band L.A. Guns. Born in London, Lewis has lived and worked in the U.S. since the 1980s but was privately educated at Royal Russell School in Surrey. Early work Lewis started the band Girl with guitarist Gerry Laffy in 1978. They put an advertisement in ''Melody Maker'' for a "peroxide guitar hero," and Phil Collen (current guitarist of Def Leppard) answered. They were soon joined by drummer Dave Gaynor and bassist Mark Megary. Megary was replaced shortly thereafter by Laffy's brother, Simon Laffy. They signed a record deal with Don Arden's label, Jet Records in 1979 and released their first album, ''Sheer Greed'', in 1980. Lewis's then girlfriend, Britt Ekland, was instrumental in helping Girl land their record deal. Later band members included Pete Barnacle, Bryson Graham, and Pete Bonas. Bernie Tormé
Bernie Tormé (born Bernard Joseph Tormey; 18 March 1952 – 17 March 2019) was an Irish rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, record label and recording studio owner. Tormé is best known for his work with Gillan, as well as his brief stints with Ozzy Osbourne. He also wrote and recorded with Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider and toured with Atomic Rooster. Early career The Ranelagh-born Tormé was inspired by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher, and Gary Moore. He formed his first band at a young age. His first paid performance came when Don Harris, a 14-year-old drummer he played alongside when he was 17, secured a gig at the local Girl Guides' dance in Kilmainham in Dublin.Ten questions with Bernie Tormé
