Diamond Johnson
Diamond Johnson (born April 15, 2002) is an American college basketball player for the Norfolk State Spartans of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). She previously played for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the NC State Wolfpack. Early life Johnson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to James Johnson and Dana Brooks, and was named after Diamond Street next to her family's neighborhood in North Philadelphia. At age 11, Johnson moved to Hampton, Virginia because her mother wanted her to live in a safer environment. Shortly after moving, she started playing organized basketball after attending tryouts for the Boo Williams Summer League, mistakenly thinking they were for a recreational league, and received an invitation to the league's Black Widows program. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Jordan Brand Classic
The Jordan Brand Classic is a high school All-Star basketball game played annually in April. The game's rosters feature the best and most highly recruited high school boys in the senior class including alumns like Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum and Zion Williamson. The game takes its name from the chief organizer, Jordan Brand, a division of Nike named after Michael Jordan. McDonald's All-American Game
The McDonald's All-American Game is the all-star basketball game played each year for American and Canadian boys' and girls' high school basketball graduates. Consisting of the top players, each team plays a single exhibition game after the conclusion of the high-school basketball season, in an East vs. West format. As part of the annual event, boys and girls compete in a slam dunk contest and a three-point shooting competition, and compete alongside All-American Game alumni in a timed team shootout. The last of these competitions replaced separate overall timed skills competitions for boys and girls. It is rare for girls to compete in the slam dunk contest. The Gatorade Player of the Year awards are given annually to up and coming high school student-athletes in the United States. They are given for boys' baseball, boys' and girls' basketball, boys' and girls' cross country, boys' football, boys' and girls' soccer, boys' and girls' track & field, girls' softball, and girls' volleyball. A "State Player of the Year" award is given to the best student-athlete in each of the twelve sports in the District of Columbia and each of the fifty states, where each sport is recognized as an interscholastic sport. Philadelphia Catholic League
The Philadelphia Catholic League is a high school sports league composed (as of the 2012-13 year) of 18 Catholic High Schools in Philadelphia and the surrounding Pennsylvania suburbs. The league itself was founded in the summer of 1920 on the steps of Villanova academy (now Alumni Hall on Villanova University's campus) by Monsignor Bonner. The league originally consisted of three sports, one per season: Football in the fall, Basketball in the winter and Baseball in the spring. Imhotep Institute Charter High School is a public charter high school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
