Dhiraj Seth
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, PVSM, is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command. He was previously tenanting the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Command. He earlier held the appointment of General Officer commanding Delhi Area, prior to that he was General Officer Commanding XXI Corps. Early life and education General Seth is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and of the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. He is also an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, where he was recognised as the best all-round student in his course; in 2006, he attended the prestigious Defence Services Command and General Staff Course at the French Collège interarmées de Défense. The Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) is a defence service training institution of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Khadakwasla
Khadakwasla Dam is a dam on the Mutha River from the centre of the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India. The dam created a reservoir known as Khadakwasla Lake which is the main source of water for Pune and its suburbs. In the vicinity of Khadakwasla Dam is the National Defence Academy (NDA), the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), the College of Military Engineering, Pune (CME, Dapodi) and Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS). A few kilometres to the south lies Sinhagad Fort; the twin dams of Panshet and Varasgaon, which mainly supply water for irrigation but also feed into Khadakwasla Lake, lie just due west of the backwaters of Khadakwasla Lake. National Defence Academy
The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint defence service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces. Here, cadets of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force train together before they go on to their respective service academies for further pre-commission training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world. The alumni of NDA include 3 Param Vir Chakra recipients and 11 Ashoka Chakra recipients. NDA has also produced 32 service chiefs of staff to date. When Lieutenant General Manoj Mukund Naravane got promoted to the Chief of Staff of the Army ( COAS) in 2019, chiefs of all staffs, i.e. the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force were all NDA alumni from the same 61st course. Indian Military Academy
The Indian Military Academy (IMA) is one of the oldest military academies in India, and trains officers for the Indian Army. Located in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, it was established in 1932 following a recommendation by a military committee set up under the chairmanship of General (United Kingdom), General (later Field Marshal (United Kingdom), Field Marshal) Philip Chetwode, 1st Baron Chetwode, Sir Philip Chetwode.
