Dexter High School (Michigan)
Dexter High School (DHS) is a public high school located in Scio Township, Michigan, with a Dexter postal address, serving grades 9-12. Melanie Nowak is the school's current principal. Dexter High School is one of only two schools in the United States with a dreadnaught as a mascot, the other being Lakeland Senior High School in Florida. History Dexter High School was originally located in the building which is now Creekside Intermediate School. When the population of students became too large for this building, the new Dexter High School was built in 2002 in its current location. Academics Dexter High School offers ten different AP courses (nine with two alternating each year) and 19 IB courses. Dexter High School also houses more than 30 clubs for students to participate in. Abigail "Abby" Tamer (born July 9, 2003) is a field hockey player from the United States. Personal life Abigail Tamer was born in Whitmore Lake, and grew up in Dexter. Career Under–21 Abigail Tamer made her debut for the United States U–21 in 2021 at the Pan American Junior Championship in Santiago. She went on to represent the team later that year at the FIH Junior World Cup in Potchefstroom. The National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) is a national Student competition, high-school science competition currently hosted by the Center for Ocean Leadership, a University Corporation for Atmospheric Research Community Program beginning 10/3/2022. It follows a Quiz bowl, quiz-bowl format, with lockout buzzers and extended team challenge questions to test students on their knowledge of oceanography. Questions cover the fields of biology, chemistry, geology, geography, social science, technology, and physics. Lakeland Senior High School, opened in 1902, is the oldest public high school in Lakeland, Florida, United States. The school was originally located on North Florida Avenue and was destroyed by fire in 1927. It is part of Polk County Public Schools. Dexter, Michigan
Dexter is a city in Washtenaw County, Michigan, in the United States. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 4,500. Established in 1830 as a village, Dexter was incorporated as a city on November 20, 2014. History On March 20, 1966, the Dexter area experienced "one of the most infamous of all UFO sightings in history" when local truck driver Frank Mannor spotted a glowing object near his home.
