Devang Desai
Devang Desai is an American attorney who has served as the 13th national commissioner of Scouting America since 2025. Prior to his election, Desai held multiple volunteer roles within the organization. He is a partner at the law firm Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP. Education Desai earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Miami, and currently serves as president of its alumni association. He later graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. Career In 2004, Desai joined the law firm Gaebe, Mullen, Antonelli & DiMatteo. In 2025, he was hired as a partner in the Miami office of Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, where he works as a civil trial attorney. Order Of The Arrow Honors And Awards
There are several awards, honors, and membership levels in the Order of the Arrow, the national honor society of Boy Scouts of America, Scouting America. Any of the awards of the Order of the Arrow (OA) may be presented to an individual regardless of which membership level they have achieved. Outstanding Eagle Scout Award
The NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA) is a distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). It is awarded to an Eagle Scout by the National Eagle Scout Association for distinguished service to their profession and community upon the recommendation of their local BSA council NESA committee, Scout executive and council president. The number of NOESA medals a council may present each calendar year is based upon the number of Eagle Scouts certified by the national office during the previous calendar year. The Silver Buffalo Award is the national-level distinguished service award of Scouting America. It is presented for noteworthy and extraordinary service to youth on a national basis, either as part of, or independent of the Scouting program. The Silver Antelope Award is a distinguished service award presented by Scouting America for outstanding service to young people within one of the organization’s divisions. Since 2022 award has been presented for service to a Council Service Territory. Recipients must be a registered adult member of Scouting America. Scouters may be nominated and selected for their efforts in the Council Service Territory or for service to the territory through a national committee. Silver Beaver
The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of Scouting America. Recipients of the award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. Those deemed worthy of the award by their local council must be approved by the National Court of Honor. Upon their approval, recipients are presented with a silver beaver pendant suspended from a blue and white ribbon, as well as the corresponding square knot. History The Silver Beaver was introduced in 1931 as a pin-on medal, but due to the heavy weight of the medallion it was switched over to a neck ribbon in mid-1932. The National Executive Board is the governing body of Scouting America. The role of the board is outlined in the organization’s congressional charter. There are currently 45 board members. The board is led by the National Chair, an elected volunteer. Order Of The Arrow
The Order of the Arrow (OA) is the honor society of Scouting America, composed of Scouts and Scouters who best exemplify the Scout Promise, Scout Oath and Scout Law, Law in their daily lives as elected by their peers. It was founded as a camp fraternity by E. Urner Goodman, with the assistance of Carroll A. Edson, in 1915. Although it began without national approval, it was eventually admitted as an "Official Experiment" of Scouting America. Eagle Scout
Eagle Scout is the highest rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program of Scouting America. Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process. The Eagle Scout rank has been earned by over 2.75 million youth. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges, 14 of which are mandatory for the award. The Eagle Scout must demonstrate Scout Spirit, an ideal attitude based upon the Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout.
