Sweden was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song "", written by Peter Himmelstrand, and performed by Björn Skifs. The Swedish participating broadcaster, (SR), selected its entry through 1978. Before Eurovision 1978 1978 was the selection for the 18th song to represent at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 17th time that (SR) used this system of picking a song. 58 songs were submitted to SR for the competition. The final was held in the in Stockholm on 11 February 1978, presented by Ulf Elfving and broadcast on SVT1, TV1 but was not broadcast on radio. The songs were not performed live, instead the performances were recorded the afternoon before, and inter-mingled with live pieces from the venue. Tomas Folke Jonas Ledin (; born 25 February 1952) is a Swedish singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He grew up in the town of Sandviken, Sweden and has sold 3 million records. Career Tomas Ledin started his career in 1972 when his first single, "", was a big hit. Other successful songs followed: "" (1973), (covered by Björn Skifs), "" (1975), "" (1976), and "" (1977). At the beginning of the 1970s, Ledin was influenced by hippie fashion and demonstrated against the Vietnam War. Pugh Rogefeldt
Anders Sture Torbjörn "Pugh" Rogefeldt (, ; 2 March 1947 – 1 May 2023) was a Swedish singer, musician, guitarist and songwriter. Musical career Rogefeldt made his breakthrough in the late 1960s with albums such as ''Ja, dä ä dä'' and ''Pughish''. Wizex
Wizex is a Swedish dansband formed in Osby in 1973. It purchased the rights to the name from a band that started as ''Ulrik Wittmans Kvintett'' in 1957''.'' When Ulrik Wittman left the band in 1963 they started to use the name ''Wizex''. When read out the name sounds like "The Six of Us", "vi sex", in Swedish, and there were six members in the band when the name was changed. Today, the band is considered to have six founders (who were allowed to purchase the name), and hence use 1973 as the starting point. Wizex broke through in 1977 when they performed on nationwide TV-show '' Nygammalt'' and got its first top ten on the Swedish charts same year with the song ''Vagabond.'' Lars-Eric Gustav "Lasse" Holm (born 9 December 1943) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and television host. Holm has also hosted and appeared in several television shows. Ann-Kristin "Kikki" Danielsson (born 10 May 1952) is a Swedish country music, country, dansband and pop singer. Sometimes, she also plays the accordion and she has also written some lyrics. Miss Decibel, written by Lasse Holm and Gert Lengstrand, is a song in Swedish, which finished 2nd at the Sweden, Swedish Melodifestivalen 1978. It was performed by the Swedish "dansband" Wizex, back then including Kikki Danielsson as lead vocal singer, together with Lasse Holm. The song, which lyrical describes about a little singing-screaming girl and her parents who see her screaming abilities as an opportunity to become a singing star in the future, ends with a refrain in English including the words "Decibel, you gonna be a star". SVT1 (SVT Ett; commonly referred to as Ettan) is the primary television station of the Swedish public service broadcaster Sveriges Television in Sweden. History Television in Sweden officially launched on 4 September 1956 with the launch of ''Radiotjänst TV'', renamed ''Sveriges Radio TV'' a year later. It would take a few years before achieving national coverage.
