Destiny's Son
is a 1962 Japanese chambara film directed by Kenji Misumi starring Raizo Ichikawa and written by Kaneto Shindo, released by Daiei Film. The film is based on one of the novels in the series of Nemuri Kyoshirō, written by Renzaburō Shibata. Plot The film opens with Shiho Fujimura as a female assassin, seeking to kill her lord's mistress for what she sees as the good of her clan. She succeeds, but is punished for her act, sentenced to death, but it is her husband (Shigeru Amachi) who executes her. Attempting to deal with the guilt of his action, he becomes a monk and sends his son to be fostered by another family. The rest of the film follows the young boy as he grows to become a skilled swordsman (Raizo Ichikawa). Not knowing much of his true past, he sets out on a three-year journey at the age of 20 as a means of self-discovery. Kenji Misumi
(2 March 1921 – 24 September 1975) was a Japanese film director. He created film series such as ''Lone Wolf and Cub'' and the initial film in the long-running ''Zatoichi'' series, and also directed ''Hanzo the Razor: Sword of Justice'', starring Shintaro Katsu. He died at age 54. In 2012, his 1973 film ''Sakura no Daimon'' was voted by Makoto Shinozaki at the BFI The Top 50 Greatest Films of All Time. Biography Kenji Misumi was born on March 2, 1921. His father was a Kobe entrepreneur Fukujiro Misumi and his mother was a geisha from Kyoto's pleasure district who went by the name Shizu. The parents were not in a formal relationship and neither parent wanted to take care of Kenji. This led to him being taken care of by his aunt Shika with Fukujiro financially supporting him. This led to Kenji Misumi later being enrolled in the Ritsumeikan business school. is a Japanese actress and singer. Biography She was born from Tokyo. After dropping out of high school, she made her debut in 1961 in the film ''Yūyake Ko yake no Akatonbo'' (directed by Koji Shima).
