List Of IACC Yachts
Sail numbers for the 'new generation' International America's Cup Class (IACC) yachts are issued on a sequential numerical basis. The number is then prefixed by the abbreviation for the country. If a yacht is subsequently sold to a team in a different country then the number remains unchanged but the prefix changes to reflect the new country of ownership. Race reports tend to use team names rather than the boat names and in most cases a boat does not have a unique name. So it has become difficult to know which actual boat raced in a particular event without reference to the results list published by the race organisers. America's Cup
The America's Cup is a sailing competition and the oldest international competition still operating in any sport. America's Cup match races are held between two sailing yachts: one from the yacht club that currently holds the trophy (known as the defender) and the other from the yacht club that is challenging for the cup (the challenger). The winner is awarded the America's Cup trophy, informally known as the Auld Mug. Matches are held several years apart on dates agreed between the defender and the challenger. There is no fixed schedule, but the races have generally been held every three to four years. Any yacht club that meets the requirements specified in the Deed of Gift of the America's Cup has the right to challenge the yacht club that currently holds the cup. John Cutler (sailor)
John Cutler (born 8 June 1962) is a competitive sailor for New Zealand who won a bronze medal in the Finn Class at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. He was also selected for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and was a sailing coach for the New Zealand team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Cutler has subsequently competed for a number of different syndicates in the America's Cup. He was born in Manchester, England.
