Kemal Derviş (; born 10 January 1949) is a Turkish economist and politician, and former head of the United Nations Development Programme. He was honored by the government of Japan for having "contributed to mainstreaming Japan's development assistance policy through the United Nations". Suat Derviş
Suat Derviş (1905–1972) was a Turkish novelist, journalist, and political activist, who was among the founders of the Socialist Women’s Association in 1970. Family and early career Suat Derviş was born in 1905 in Istanbul. She was born into an aristocratic family. Her father, İsmail Derviş, was a gynecologist, and a professor at the Medical Faculty of Istanbul University. Her mother, Hesna Hanım, was the daughter of a slave girl in the entourage of Ottoman Sultan Abdülaziz. Suat had one sister, Hamiyet, who received a musical education at several conservatories in Germany. Her parents' relationship was monogamous, and they were described as a reliable family, who were supportive of Suat. As a child, Derviş used to wear a burqa. Derviş Ali
Derviş Ali ( ota, دروش على Modern Turkish: ''Derviş Ali'') (d. 1673) was a 17th-century Ottoman calligrapher. Life and work His is known as Derviş Ali, the elder or by the nicknames ''Büyük'', ''Birinci'' or ''ayırt Mâruf'' (to distinguish him from the two different calligraphers of the same name, who lived at a later time). Very little is known about his early life. His date of birth is unknown. He was raised as a slave in the household of a Janissary officer by the name of Kara Hasan-oglu Huseyn Aga. As a young man, he served as a subaltern with the Janissaries. He later trained as a calligrapher with Halid Erzurumi (d. 1651). He worked in the Köprülü Library, where he trained many calligraphers, of whom the most famous were the Grand Vizier, Köprülüzade Fazıl Ahmed Pasha, Hâfiz Osman and Suyolcuzade Mustafa Eyyubi Another of his students was Ismail Efendi, who executed the tomb of Hâfiz Osman and also produced 44 copies of the Q'ran. Derviş Zaim Derviş Zaim (born Derviş Zaimağaoğlu in 1964) is a Turkish Cypriot filmmaker and novelist, who has twice won the Golden Orange for Best Director for '' Elephants and Grass'' (2000) and ''Dot (2008)''; Golden Oranges for Best Film and Best Screenplay for ''Somersault in a Coffin'' (1996); and the Yunus Nadi literary prize for his debut novel ''Ares in Wonderland'' (1995). Biography Derviş Zaim was educated at Famagusta Namık Kemal High School and graduated in Business Administration from Boğaziçi University in 1988. He attended a course in independent film production in London and made experimental video ''Hang the Camera'' (1991). He subsequently wrote, produced and directed numerous television programs starting with the documentary ''Rock around the Mosque'' (1993).
