Herbert Charles Brown (1874–1940) was a senior Australian public servant best known for his time as Commonwealth Auditor-General in the late 1930s. Life and career Brown was born in 1874, and joined the New South Wales public service in 1891. Brown served for 12-years in the Postmaster-General's Department, before joining the Department of Home Affairs. He then became an Assistant Secretary in the Department of Works and Railways, then a chief clerk and accountant in the Prime Minister's Department. In 1928, Brown was appointed Secretary of the Department of Markets. He became Secretary of the expanded Department of Markets and Transport at the end of that year. Sir Robert Archdale "Archie" Parkhill (27 August 1878 – 2 October 1947) was an Australian politician who was a member of the House of Representatives from 1927 to 1937. He began his career in politics as a campaign director for the Commonwealth Liberal Party and Nationalist Party. He later joined the new United Australia Party in 1931, and served as a minister in the Lyons government between 1932 and 1937. Early life Parkhill was born on 27 August 1878 in Paddington, New South Wales. He was the son of Isabella (née Chisholm) and Robert Parkhill, his father being a stonemason. He was educated at public schools in Paddington and Waverley before finding work as a clerk. In 1904, Parkhill was elected to the Waverley Municipal Council. Parker Moloney
Parker John Moloney (12 August 18798 May 1961) was an Australian politician. A member of the Labor Party, he served in the House of Representatives from 1910 to 1913, 1914 to 1917, and 1919 to 1931. He was Minister for Markets and Minister for Transport in the Scullin government from 1929 to 1932. Early life Moloney was born in Port Fairy, Victoria, to Maurice Moloney and Mary, née Bowe. He became a teacher at John O'Hara's South Melbourne College in 1902 and then at University High School. Around this time he began to be interested in labour politics and attended the Catholic Young Men's Association. In 1906 he became principal of Beechworth College.
