Demet Sağıroğlu
Demet Sağıroğlu (born 5 December 1966) is a Turkish pop music singer. In 1989, she was part of the backing vocals group with Kayahan who bid to represent Turkey in Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989, 1989 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Ve Melankoli" coming close second to Grup Pan who won with "Bana Bana". In 1990 she tried again with Kayahan with the song "Gözlerinin Hapsindeyim" for Turkey in the Eurovision Song Contest 1990, 1990 Eurovision Song Contest and winning the bid went on to accompany Kayahan to Zagreb where the Turkish entry finished 17th. Starting mid-1990s, she developed a successful solo career with a number of albums. Erzurum
Erzurum (; ) is a List of cities in Turkey, city in eastern Anatolia, Turkey. It is the largest city and capital of Erzurum Province and is 1,900 meters (6,233 feet) above sea level. Erzurum had a population of 367,250 in 2010. It is the site of ancient Theodosiopolis. The city uses the double-headed eagle as its coat-of-arms, a motif that has been a common symbol throughout Anatolia since the Bronze Age. Kayahan
Kayahan Açar (29 March 1949 – 3 April 2015) was a Turkish pop music singer-songwriter. He was an accomplished composer, consistently ranking among the best-selling Turkish musicians of all time. Kayahan composed all of his own material and released more than eight best-selling albums during a career spanning three decades. Kayahan released a number of compact cassettes, CDs and albums and had major singles. He represented Turkey in Eurovision Song Contest 1990 with "Gözlerinin Hapsindeyim". Turkey was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 with the song "", written by Timur Selçuk, and performed by Pan. The Turkish participating broadcaster, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), selected its entry through a national final. Before Eurovision The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) held the national final on 11 March 1989 at the Ari TV studios in Ankara, hosted by Bülent Özveren and Güler Kazmacı. Sixteen songs competed and the winner was determined by the votes of eight regional juries. At Eurovision The contest was broadcast on TV1 (with commentary by Bülend Özveren). On the night of the contest Pan performed 5th in the running order following the Netherlands and preceding Belgium. At the close of the voting Bana Bana had received 5 points, placing Turkey 21st among 22. Turkey was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1990 with the song "", written and performed by Kayahan Açar. The Turkish participating broadcaster, the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), selected its entry through a national final. Before Eurovision The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) held the national final on 24 February 1990 at the Ari TV studios in Ankara, hosted by Korhan Abay. Fifteen songs competed and the winner was determined by the votes of eight regional juries. This contest was the only contest where everything was played entirely live. Despite the instruments shown on stage, they were all required to play live. The three previous editions (1987, 1988, 1989) allowed playback as long as there was an instrument present on stage. The national final version of the song "Gözlerinin Hapsindeyim" is different from the version performed at the Eurovision Song Contest.
