Del Monte Foods Inc. ( trading as Del Monte Foods) is an American food production and distribution company and subsidiary of NutriAsia, headquartered in Walnut Creek, California. Del Monte Foods is one of the largest producers, distributors and marketers of branded processed food for the U.S. retail market, generating approximately $1.73 billion of annual sales. Its portfolio of brands includes Del Monte, S&W, Contadina, College Inn, Kitchen Basics, Joyba, and Take Root. Greg Longstreet is the current chief executive officer of Del Monte Foods. Contadina is a brand of Italian-inspired tomato products and bread crumbs. The brand was established in 1914 by Aiello Brothers & Company. A Chicago wholesaler, Antonio Morici, through Italo Canning bought the entire production of Contadina. By 1918, the Aiello Brothers grew short of capital and Italo Canning purchased their cannery. George Newell Armsby (August 10, 1876 – October 25, 1942) was an American entrepreneur who led major corporate mergers in the first half of the 20th century, including the merger of California food companies that resulted in California Packing Corporation, which sold under the Del Monte Foods, Del Monte and Sunkist Growers, Incorporated, Sunkist labels. The Hotel Del Monte was a large resort hotel in Monterey, California, from its opening in 1880 until 1942. It was one of the finest luxury hotels in North America. During World War II, it closed and the building was leased to the United States Navy.
