Defence Futures
The Defence Futures, formerly Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC) is the United Kingdom (UK) Ministry of Defence's (MOD's) think tank. History The DCDC, originally called the Joint Doctrine and Concepts Centre (JDCC), was established as a result of the 1998 Strategic Defence Review. The UK recognised that it needed to have a clearer long-term vision of the way in which it expected it forces and their methods of operation to develop. Programme SOLARIUM – Strategic Command’s transformation programme – launched the new Integration Design Authority (IDA) on 1 July 2024. Due to this transformation the DCDC has evolved into a new organisation – Defence Futures, part of the IDA. A prediction (Latin ''præ-'', "before," and ''dictum'', "something said") or forecast is a statement about a future event or about future data. Major General Darrell Peter Amison OBE is a former British Army officer. Military career Amison was commissioned into the Royal Army Educational Corps in 1990. He served as commanding officer of 4 Logistic Support Regiment RLC in which role he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2007. He went on to be Deputy Chief of Staff at Headquarters, 3rd (United Kingdom) Division in 2010, Commander of 102nd Logistic Brigade in July 2013 and Head of Concepts at the Development, Concepts and Doctrine Centre in September 2015 before becoming Capability Director, Combat Service Support in January 2019. Major general (Maj Gen) is a two-star rank, "two-star" rank in the British Army and Royal Marines. The rank was also briefly used by the Royal Air Force for a year and a half, from its creation in April 1918 until August 1919. John Kingwell
Rear Admiral John Matthew Leonard Kingwell (born 26 August 1966) is a retired Royal Navy officer. He was Commandant of the Royal College of Defence Studies from 2019 to 2020. Naval career Kingwell joined the Royal Navy in 1984. He served as commanding officer successively of the patrol boat HMS ''Pursuer'', the frigate HMS ''Argyll'' and the amphibious transport dock HMS ''Albion''. He went on to be Commander United Kingdom Task Group in January 2011 and in that role commanded the task group off Libya.
