Decon Records
Decon is a New York–based advertising agency and record label. Decon is known for their "Green Week" initiative for NBC Universal, which involved an installation at the 30 Rockefeller Center. Additionally, Decon has produced documentary-style profiles featuring Nissan Leaf. They were also involved in launch of the Fiat 500 in New York in the year 2011. History Originally named Deconstruction Company, it was founded in 2002 by Peter Bittenbender and Jason Goldwatch after the creation of their hip-hop documentary and accompanying soundtrack, ''One Big Trip''. The soundtrack was then released as a double-sided DVD/CD in 2002 with Hieroglyphic Imperium Records. In 2012, Decon earned a Promax Award for work on NBCUniversal's "Green Week" campaign. Okayplayer
Okayplayer is an online hip-hop and alternative music website and community, described by ''Rolling Stone'' as a "tastemaker" and "an antidote to dull promotional Web sites used by most artists". The community was founded by The Roots' drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and author Angela Nissel as a loose musical collective in 1987, and evolved into an online community in 1999. In 2004, Questlove launched Okayplayer Records as a spin-off of the community, in partnership with Decon. After a near-decade hiatus, the label was rebooted in 2012 with Danny! as its flagship artist. This community is made up of recording artists (who keep their official internet homes there), visitors to the site, and individuals who post on the site's message board, the most popular feature of the site. "Exhibit C" is a song by American hip hop recording artist and record producer Jay Electronica. The song, produced by Just Blaze, was released to iTunes on December 22, 2009, as an EP with explicit, clean and instrumental versions. Background The song, produced by Just Blaze, samples Billy Stewart's "Cross My Heart". Jay has stated that the song was produced in only 15 minutes for the purpose of premiering a new song on Angela Yee's show on Shade 45. The lyrics reference a time when Jay was homeless in New York City. Despite not having an album or major label support, the song received airplay on stations like WQHT. Justin Gregory Smith (born January 8, 1978), known professionally as Just Blaze, is an American record producer and DJ. Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Smith attended Rutgers University for three years before dropping out to pursue a career in music production. He gained recognition as an in-house producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, developing the "chipmunk soul" sampling style that was prominent in hip hop during that time. Smith produced Eminem's 2010 single "No Love" and appeared in its accompanying music video. He has composed soundtracks for video games, and was a character in ''NBA Street Vol. 2''. His stage name was inspired by the character Blaze Fielding from the ''Streets of Rage'' video game series.
