Davor Štefanek
Davor Štefanek ( sr-cyr, Давор Штефанек; born 12 September 1985) is a Serbian representative in Greco-Roman Wrestling, he was the 2014 World champion and the 2016 Olympic champion in the Greco-Roman 66 kg category. Biography At the Mediterranean Games, he has won two silver medals at the 2005 and 2018 renditions as well as a gold medal in 2009. At the European Wrestling Championships, he has won three silver and two bronze medals. At the World Wrestling Championships, he won a gold medal in 2014, silver medal in 2018, and bronze medal in 2015. Štefanek represented Serbia and Montenegro at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, as well as Serbia at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he won the gold medal in the 66kg event. The European Wrestling Championships is the second oldest international wrestling competition of the modern world and the main wrestling championships in Europe. It predates World Wrestling Championships and other regional wrestling championships and is second only to the Wrestling at the Summer Olympics, wrestling events at the Olympics. From its inception in 1898 till 1927 only Greco-Roman wrestling was contested. Since 1929 in sports, 1929 separate freestyle wrestling events were held as well. The Mediterranean Games is a multi-sport event organised by the International Committee of Mediterranean Games (CIJM). It is held every four years among athletes from countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea in Africa, Asia and Europe. The first Mediterranean Games were held in 1951 in Alexandria, Egypt, while the most recent games were held in 2022 in Oran, Algeria.
