David Perdue
David Alfred Perdue Jr. (born December 10, 1949) is an American politician, diplomat, and businessman serving as the List of ambassadors of the United States to China, United States ambassador to China since 2025. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, Perdue previously served as a United States Senate, United States senator for Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia from 2015 to 2021. He was an unsuccessful candidate for governor of Georgia in 2022 Georgia gubernatorial election#Republican primary, 2022. After 12 years as a management consultant, Perdue became the senior vice president for Reebok, eventually becoming CEO. The United States ambassador to China is the chief United States diplomat to the People's Republic of China. Pillowtex Corporation was a United States textile manufacturing company from 1954 to 2003. Beginning as a pillow manufacturer, the company diversified and manufactured bedsheets under various brand names. The company was officially declared bankrupt on October 7, 2003. STOCK Act
The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act of 2012 () is an Act of Congress designed to combat insider trading. It was signed into law by President Barack Obama on April 4, 2012. The law prohibits the use of non-public information for private profit, including insider trading, by members of Congress and other government employees. It confirms changes to the Commodity Exchange Act, specifies reporting intervals for financial transactions. Originally written and introduced by Washington Congressman Brian Baird, the STOCK Act gained popularity following a ''60 Minutes'' segment on congressional insider trading in 2011, after which Republican Senator Scott Brown and Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand reintroduced bills to combat the practice. 2020 Congressional Insider Trading Scandal
The 2020 congressional insider trading scandal was a political scandal in the United States involving allegations that several members of the United States Senate violated the STOCK Act by selling stock at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and just before a stock market crash on February 20, 2020, using knowledge given to them at a closed Senate meeting.
