David Eby
David Robert Patrick Eby (; born July 21, 1976) is a Canadian politician and lawyer who has served as the 37th and current premier of British Columbia since November 18, 2022. Eby is a member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party (NDP) and has served as party leader since October 21, 2022. He has represented Vancouver-Point Grey in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia since 2013. Eby began his legal career with a focus on civil rights and social justice issues, working at the Pivot Legal Society from 2005 to 2008. He then became the executive director of the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA), serving from 2008 to 2012. Selina Robinson
Selina Mae Robinson ( Dardick; born 1964) is a Canadian politician who was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia in the 2013 provincial election and remained in the legislature until 2024. She represented the electoral district of Coquitlam-Maillardville, first as a British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP) MLA and then as an Independent. She served in the cabinet of British Columbia from 2017 until 2024. 2022 British Columbia New Democratic Party Leadership Election
In 2022, the British Columbia New Democratic Party (NDP) held a leadership election to select a new leader. The contest was prompted by John Horgan's announcement in June 2022 that he would step down as leader of the party once a new leader had been chosen. As the NDP has formed the government of the province since 2017, newly elected leader David Eby was subsequently sworn in as premier of British Columbia. The convention was scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of 2022. Two candidates were in the contest: David Eby and Anjali Appadurai. The Horgan ministry was the combined Cabinet (formally the Executive Council of British Columbia) that governed British Columbia from July 18, 2017, to November 18, 2022. It was chaired by the 36th premier of British Columbia, John Horgan.
