Daveyton
Daveyton is a township (South Africa), township in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality of Gauteng in South Africa. It borders Etwatwa to the north-east, Springs, Gauteng, Springs to the south and Benoni, Gauteng, Benoni to the south-west. The nearest town is Benoni, which is approximately 18 kilometres away. Daveyton was established in 1952, and named after William Albert Davey, the Mayor of Benoni from 1951 to 1953.Who's Who of Southern Africa, including Mauritius, 1976. Pollen Ndlanya
Pollen Ndlanya (born 22 May 1970 in Daveyton) is a retired South African footballer who played as a striker. He played for Kaizer Chiefs, Manning Rangers, Bursaspor, Göztepe, Amazulu and Orlando Pirates. He also played for South Africa national football team at the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup. Career Kaizer Chiefs After training with Chiefs for two hours, Jeff Butler recommended that Ndlanya should be signed. He was spotted by Ryder Mofokeng at the Toyota U21 Championship in the Daveyton Highlanders vs Kaizer Chiefs match in 1991. He scored a header on debut against Pretoria Callies. His second spell at Chiefs after Manning Rangers proved to be more productive where he scored nine goals in two games, five against Manning Rangers and four against Total Aces. Young Stunna
Sandile Fortune Msimango, popularly known by his stage name Young Stunna is a South African Amapiano singer. He is known for his hit singles "Bopha" and "Adiwele". He has also extensively worked with record producers DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. Stunna's debut studio album ''Notumato'' (2021), reached number 1 in South Africa. Notumato became his first commercially successful album which helped him gain recognition and it certified Platinum by Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA). Education He attended Benoni West Primary and Lee Rand High School in Benoni. He completed his matric at Unity Secondary School in Daveyton. Early life Young Stunna was born in Daveyton, South Africa and grew up in a Christian family and often sang in the church choir. Benoni, Gauteng
Benoni is a town on the East Rand, Gauteng, South Africa, some east of Johannesburg, within the City of Ekurhuleni municipality. Benoni was also the setting for the MTV-inspired movie ''Crazy Monkey: Straight Outta Benoni'', released internationally in 2005. History Jewish community Benoni was previously home to a thriving Jewish community, peaking with 400 Jewish families. Jewish residents were also widely involved in the greater community, with five Jewish mayors. The Benoni Shul congregation began with a synagogue located on Woburn Avenue in 1907, before relocating to a new, larger synagogue on Park Street in 1933. The synagogue served the community for 90 years, before closing in 2023. Rabbi Lionel Mirvis, father of Chief Rabbi, Ephraim Mirvis, previously served the congregation.
