Darwin Piñeyrúa
Darwin Piñeyrúa (23 December 1945 – 11 February 1978) was a Uruguayan athlete. He competed in the men's hammer throw at the 1972 Summer Olympics. He was the flag bearer for Uruguay in the opening ceremony. The hammer throw (HT for short) is one of the four throwing events in regular outdoor track-and-field competitions, along with the discus throw, shot put and Javelin throw, javelin. The hammer used in this sport is not like any of the tools also called by that name. It consists of a metal ball attached by a steel wire to a grip.
