Darko Glišić (politician)
Darko Glišić (, born 28 May 1973) is a Serbian politician, serving as minister for public investments since 2024. He was previously the mayor of Ub. A former member of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS), he is now the president of the executive board of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Early life and education Glišić was born on 28 May 1973 in Ub, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia. He graduated from the Higher Construction and Surveying School in Belgrade. Political career In 1997, Glišić joined the far-right Serbian Radical Party (SRS) and was elected vice-president of the party's Kolubara District branch. In 2000, he was elected president of the SRS's Kolubara District branch. He served as the president of the Assembly of the Municipality of Ub from 2005 to 2006 and was a member of the National Assembly from 2004 to 2008. Tomislav Nikolić
Tomislav Nikolić ( sr-Cyrl, Томислав Николић, ; born 15 February 1952) is a Serbian former politician who served as the president of Serbia from 2012 to 2017. A former member of the far-right Serbian Radical Party (SRS), he disassociated himself from the party in 2008 and formed the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) which he led until 2012. Born in Bajčetina, a village near Kragujevac, Nikolić was a long-time member of parliament for SRS. He served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia from 1998 to 1999 and Deputy Prime Minister of FR Yugoslavia in the coalition government from 1999 to 2000. Nikolić was the deputy leader of SRS from 2003, and he briefly served as the President of the National Assembly of Serbia in 2007. Ćuprija (Serbian Cyrillic: Ћуприја, ) is a town and municipality located in the Pomoravlje District of central Serbia. The population of the town is 16,522, while the municipality has 25,325 inhabitants (2022 census). History The Romans founded the town as a fort Horreum Margi (Horreum: ''Granary'', Margi: '' Morava'') on the road from Constantinople to Rome, where it crosses the river now known as Velika Morava. Novi Sad Railway Station Canopy Collapse
On 1 November 2024, the concrete canopy of the main railway station in Novi Sad, Serbia, collapsed onto the busy pavement below, killing 16 people and severely injuring one more. The station building was constructed in 1964, and was renovated from 2021 to mid-2024 with support from China's Belt and Road Initiative. The cause of the collapse is still under investigation. The collapse spawned a series of mass protests in Novi Sad, which then spread throughout Serbia, fueled by dissatisfaction with other issues including government corruption and media censorship. Rade Basta ( sr-cyrl, Раде Баста; born 21 February 1979) is a Serbian politician who served as minister of economy from 2022 to 2023. A former member of United Serbia (JS), he served as a member of the National Assembly of Serbia from August to October 2022. Born in Novi Sad, he graduated from the University of Novi Sad in 2002. He was an advisor to Srđan Kružević during his tenure as the director of Elektrovojvodina, a deputy provincial secretary for energy, and briefly a member of the City Assembly of Novi Sad in 2016. Dragan "Bjela" Bjelogrlić ( sr-Cyrl, Драган "Бјела" Бјелогрлић, ; born 10 October 1963) is a Serbian actor, director and producer. Career Bjelogrlić made his acting debut as a 15-year old, playing Sava Jovanović Sirogojno in ''Boško Buha'', a 1978 film that achieved sizable popularity.
