Dark Light (HIM Album)
''Dark Light'' is the fifth studio album by Finnish gothic rock band HIM (Finnish band), HIM. Released on 26 September 2005, HIM began recording the album in March 2005 at the Canfield-Moreno Estate, Paramour Estate is Los Angeles with producer Tim Palmer (record producer), Tim Palmer, who had also mixed the band's previous album ''Love Metal''. ''Dark Light'' also served as HIM's first worldwide release with Sire Records, with whom the band had signed with in September 2004. In Finland, however, the album was released under the band's own label Heartagram. Musically, ''Dark Light'' featured a more "polished" and "accessible" sound than previous albums, and was written as a cross between Black Sabbath and U2, also influenced by the work of composer Angelo Badalamenti. HIM (Finnish Band)
HIM (sometimes stylized as H.I.M.) was a Finnish gothic rock band from Helsinki. First formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo and bassist Mige (musician), Mikko "Mige" Paananen under the name His Infernal Majesty, the band broke up after only a few years, only to be reformed in 1995 by Valo and guitarist Linde Lindström, Mikko "Linde" Lindström. After being rejoined by Mige, as well as keyboardist Antto Melasniemi and drummer Juhana "Pätkä" Rantala, the band, now called HIM, released its debut album ''Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666'' in 1997. In 2000, now with drummer Gas Lipstick, Mika "Gas Lipstick" Karppinen and keyboardist Juska Salminen, the band released ''Razorblade Romance'', which reached the number one spot in Finland, Austria and Germany. "She Sells Sanctuary" is a song by British rock band the Cult. It is from their second studio album, ''Love'' (1985), and was released as a single on 13 May 1985, peaking at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart in July of the same year. In March 2023, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) awarded the song a platinum certification for sales and streams of over 600,000. In January 1993, the song was re-released as "Sanctuary MCMXCIII" and experienced chart success once more, matching its original peak on the UK Singles Chart and entering the top 10 in New Zealand. This Mortal Coil
This Mortal Coil were a British music collective led by Ivo Watts-Russell, founder of the British record label 4AD. Although Watts-Russell and John Fryer were the only two official members, the band's recorded output featured a large rotating cast of supporting artists, many of whom were otherwise associated with 4AD, including members of Cocteau Twins, Pixies and Dead Can Dance. Mette Cecilie Newth (born 31 January 1942) is a Norwegian illustrator, author of children's literature, and organizer. She received the Norwegian Critics Prize for Best children's book. Personal life Mette Newth was born in Oslo as the daughter of journalist, crime writer and revue writer Fridtjof Knutsen and his wife Alfhild Gundersen (known as the crime writer Lalli Knutsen, and under the pseudonym Lalli Løvland). Biography Marino was born on April 15, 1947, in the New York City borough The Bronx. He attended Christopher Columbus High School (Bronx), Christopher Columbus High School there and learned to play the saxophone and bass fiddle in the high school band and was classically trained on guitar. Electric Lady Studios is a recording studio in Greenwich Village, New York City. It was commissioned by rock musician Jimi Hendrix in 1968 and designed by architect John Storyk and audio engineer Eddie Kramer. It was completed by 1970. Andy Wallace (born 1947) is an American record producer and audio and mixing engineer. Over the years, he focused exclusively on mixing. Career Wallace was born in New Jersey. In 1974, he began his career as a chief engineer in his own studio in Los Angeles. After a few years of moderate success, he returned to New York City during the emergence of hip-hop in the early 1980s.
