''Danmark, mit Fædreland'' (English language, English: ''Denmark, my Fatherland''), also known by its first line as ''I Danmark er jeg født'' (English: ''In Denmark Am I Born''), is an 1850 song by Hans Christian Andersen, frequently proposed as a new Danish national anthem instead of ''Der er et yndigt land'', It has been included in the ''Højskolesangbogen, Folk High School Song Book'' since 1922, initially accompanied by an 1850 melody by Henrik Rung and now by an alternative melody composed by Poul Schierbeck in 1926. It was included in the 2004 Danish Culture Canon as one of 12 songs from the Folk High School Song Book. History Denmark's involvement in the First Schleswig War (184850) and the adoption of the Constitution of Denmark, Danish constitution (1849) prompted a strong focus on patriotism and national identity. Casino Theatre (Copenhagen)
The Casino Theatre was a theatre located at Amaliegade 10 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was built as an entertainment venue by Tivoli Gardens-founder Georg Carstensen but was converted into a theatre in 1848. It closed in 1937 and the building was demolished in 1960. History Origins Built by Georg Carstensen, founder of Tivoli Gardens, Casino was originally envisioned as a "Winter Tivoli" with bazaar, promenade concerts and soirées. Carstensen financed the project through the sale of shares. In November 1845, he had raised 200,000 Danish rigsdaler. The building was designed by H. C. Stilling who had also worked for Carstensen during the establishment of Tivoli Gardens. The entertainment venue opened on 22 February 1847. Edition Wilhelm Hansen, formerly known simply as Hansen, is a Danish music publishing company based in Copenhagen. Currently owned by the Wise Music Group, it was for the majority of its history a family-owned and operated business. Begun by Jens Wilhelm Hansen in his home in 1853, the company was officially incorporated in 1857. The majority of the company was sold to Music Sales Corporation (now Wise Music Group) in 1988 at which point it was re-named Edition Wilhelm Hansen. The Hansen family still maintains close ties to the company with Loui Törnqvist, a descendent of Wilhelm Hansen, currently leading the company. Gladsaxe Theatre
Gladsaxe Municipality () is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') near Copenhagen in Region Hovedstaden on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a total population of 70,958 (2025). Its mayor is Trine Græse, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. Sebastian (singer)
Knud Grabow Christensen (born 19 December 1949), better known by his stage name Sebastian, is a Danish singer, guitarist and songwriter. Sebastian started playing guitar in 1966, and started writing songs in 1967. Since having worked in the folk rock genre in the 1970s, he became one of the most prominent pop rock musicians in Denmark and has scored numerous films and plays. His releases have reached combined sales of over 2.5 million copies since 1971. His singing voice began weakening in the end of the 1980s, because of bad health. He is still active, and has made several popular albums. So far, his career has spanned more than five decades. Herman Wilhelm Bissen
Herman Wilhelm Bissen (13 October 1798 – 10 March 1868) was a Danish sculptor. Bissen created a number of public works, working in plaster, marble and bronze. The National Gallery of Denmark owns a collection of over two hundred of his works, including over one hundred busts. Among his notable works are the monumental ''Landsoldaten'' (1858) in Fredericia, the statue of Adam Oehlenschläger (1854–61) in front of the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen, and the equestrian statue of King Frederik VII of Denmark in front of Christiansborg Castle. Biography Bissen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1816 to 1823. In 1824, he was awarded a travel scholarship which enabled him to travel to Rome. Battle Of Fredericia
The Battle of Fredericia was fought between soldiers of Schleswig-Holstein and Denmark on 6 July 1849 at Fredericia in Denmark. The battle was a part of the First Schleswig War, which was a conflict between Schleswig-Holstein, supported by several German states, and Denmark. The Danes won the battle. Fædrelandet (1834–1882)
was a National Liberal Danish newspaper published from 1834 to 1882 in Copenhagen, Denmark. It played a central role in the fight for a free constitution in the 1840s. History was established as a weekly journal by and Johannes Dam Hage (1800–1837) in 1834. On 1 January 1839, it was relaunched as a daily newspaper. At the same time, David was succeeded by Balthazar Christensen as editor-in-chief. On 1 January 1840, Christensen was succeeded by Ditlev Gothard Monrad. Orla Lehmann took over the position on 28 March 1841 but was replaced by Carl Ploug after being placed under censorship. A homeland is a place where a national or ethnic identity has formed. The definition can also mean simply one's country of birth. When used as a proper noun, the Homeland, as well as its equivalents in other languages, often has ethnic nationalism, ethnic nationalist connotations.
