Daniel Šarić
Daniel Šarić (born 4 August 1972 in Rijeka) is a Croatian former footballer who played as a right wingback. His name is sometimes spelled as Danijel Šarić. Club career Born in Rijeka, Šarić started his professional career at local club NK Rijeka back in 1989. He went on to move to Spanish club Sporting de Gijón in 1993 and subsequently returned to Croatia by signing with Dinamo Zagreb in 1995. After five years with Dinamo, he went on to move abroad once again by signing with Greek club Panathinaikos for the 2000–01 season. He stayed at Panathinaikos until the summer of 2003 and then returned to his home town by signing a four-year contract with NK Rijeka. He retired in July 2007 after the contract expired. International career Šarić was also an almost regular member of the Croatia national team between 1997 and 2002. Rijeka
Rijeka (; Fiume ([ˈfjuːme]) in Italian and in Fiuman dialect, Fiuman Venetian) is the principal seaport and the List of cities and towns in Croatia, third-largest city in Croatia. The Hrvatska nogometna liga (; ), abbreviated as HNL and also known for sponsorship reasons as the SuperSport HNL, is a professional association football league in Croatia and the highest level of the Croatian football league system. Established in 1992, it was previously called Prva Hrvatska nogometna liga (1. HNL; ), but a league structure reorganization from 2022–23 led to name changes for the three top league levels. 1992 Croatian First Football League
The 1992 Croatian First Football League was the first season of the top Croatian football league. It was the inaugural season of the league established following Croatia's independence from Yugoslavia. Affected by the political and social upheavals stemming from the breakup of Yugoslavia and the early stages of the 1991–95 war, the season was drastically shortened and played over the course of less than four months, from 29 February to 13 June. The league featured 12 Croatian-based clubs, all of which had previously competed at various levels in the Yugoslav football pyramid. The Croatian Football Super Cup is a football match between the winners of the Croatian national top league and football cup. The Super Cup is always held at the beginning of a new football season, and is only held when different clubs win the two most important competitions in the previous season (i.e. the match is not played when a club completes the domestic double). Croatian Football Cup
The Croatian Football Cup (), is an annually held football tournament for Croatian football clubs and is the second most important competition in Croatian football after the HNL championship. It is governed by the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and usually runs from late August to late May. Cup winners automatically qualify for next season's UEFA Europa League, except when cup winners are also Prva HNL champions, in which case their berth in the Europa Conference League goes to the best-placed team in the Prva HNL who have not qualified for the UEFA competitions through their league performance. 1990–91 Yugoslav First League
The 1990–91 Yugoslav First League season was the 45th season of the First Federal League (), the top level association football competition of SFR Yugoslavia, since its establishment in 1946. The title was won by Red Star Belgrade, the club's 18th in its history. It also turned out to be the last season in which teams from SR Croatia and SR Slovenia participated. The 1989–90 Yugoslav First League season was the 44th season of the First Federal League (), the top level association football competition of SFR Yugoslavia, since its establishment in 1946.
