Daniel Carlos Martínez Villamil (born 23 February 1957) is a Uruguayan industrial engineer and politician, who served as intendant of Montevideo from 2015 to 2019. He previously served as Senator of the Republic from 2010 to 2015, as minister of Industry, Energy and Mining in the administration of José Mujica from 2008 to 2009 and as president of the state-owned petrol company ANCAP from 2005 to 2008. A member of the Socialist Party – Broad Front, he was a candidate for president in the 2019 general election, being defeated in the second round by Luis Lacalle Pou. It was founded in 1880 as a Seminary, school of theology for boys who aspired to the priesthood, and served as such until 1922, when it became a conventional all-boys school.
