Daniel Günther (born 24 July 1973) is a German politician who is a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU). Since 28 June 2017, he has served as the Minister President of Schleswig-Holstein. From 1 November 2018 to 31 October 2019, he served as President of the Bundesrat, being succeeded by Dietmar Woidke. Early life and education Günther studied politics and psychology at University of Kiel. The Schleswig-Holstein Landtag is the state parliament of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It convenes in the state's capital Kiel and currently consists of 69 members of five parties. The current majority consists of a coalition of the Christian Democratic Union and the Greens, supporting the cabinet of Minister President Daniel Günther. 2017 Schleswig-Holstein State Election
The 2017 Schleswig-Holstein state election was held on 7 May 2017 to elect the members of the Landtag of Schleswig-Holstein. The incumbent government was led by List of Ministers-President of Schleswig-Holstein, Minister-President Torsten Albig, and consisted of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Social Democratic Party (SPD), Alliance 90/The Greens, The Greens, and the South Schleswig Voters' Association (SSW). The government lost its majority in the election. The result was a stalemate, with the incumbent left-wing government parties (SPD, Greens and SSW) being three seats short of a majority, and CDU and its usual coalition partner FDP also coming up three seats short due to the right-wing populist party Alternative for Germany (AfD) entering the Landtag. Ingbert Liebing (born 11 May 1963) is a German lobbyist and former politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He served as a member of the Bundestag from 2005 until 2017, where he represented Nordfriesland – Dithmarschen Nord. From 2014 until 2017, he was the chairman of the CDU state party group of Schleswig-Holstein.
