Mirek Topolánek (, born 15 May 1956) is a Czech Republic, Czech politician and business manager who served as the prime minister of the Czech Republic from 2006 to 2009 and the leader of the Civic Democratic Party (Czech Republic), Civic Democratic Party (ODS) from 2002 Civic Democratic Party leadership election, 2002 to 2010. Between 2006 and 2009, Topolánek was the member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Chamber of Deputies (MP) and Senate of the Czech Republic, senator from Senate district 70 – Ostrava-City, Ostrava from 1996 until 2004. The Green Party () is a green political party in the Czech Republic. History The Green party was founded in 1990 following the return to liberal democracy in Czechia following the Velvet Revolution. However, the party remained on the political margins until Jaromír Štětina was able to capture a seat in the Senate (upper house of the Parliament of the Czech Republic) in 2004.
