Damon Records
Damon Records was a United States record label. Original Victor "Vic" L. Damon started a recording business, Damon Transcription Laboratory in 1933 in Kansas City (Midland Building at 1221 Baltimore). He later moved the studio to 117 W. 14th Street and operated it, under the name Damon Recording Studios, until retirement in 1973. His assistant, Chuck Chapman, kept the studio running until 1975, then moved into the Cavern Sound facility in Independence, Missouri, for two more years operating as Cavern/Damon. Damon was an in-house label of the Damon's studio. Damon used musicians and singers who were not members of the American Federation of Musicians labor union to make recordings during the ban on Union recordings ordered by James Petrillo. In May 1948, the singing duo of Jon and Sondra Steele released "My Happiness" on Damon Records, a fact that was acknowledged on sheet music promoting the song. Bob Kames
Bob Kames (April 21, 1925 – April 9, 2008) was an American musician who specialized in genres such as polka. Kames is credited with developing and popularizing the modern-day version of the song " Dance Little Bird," which is much better known by its more common name, The Chicken Dance. Kames is a member of the Wisconsin Area Music Industry's Hall of Fame. Kames recorded over seventy albums throughout his career. He owned and operated a chain of music stores called Bob Kames Wonderful World of Music, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Early life Kames was born Robert Kujawa to his parents Valentine Kujawa and Esther Kujawa. His father worked as an alderman in Milwaukee's south side. Garry Lee and Showdown are a country band from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. They are best known for their underground hit song "The Rodeo Song" (written by Gaye Delorme) and featuring prominent use of profanity, from the 1980 album, ''Welcome to the Rodeo''. In 1993, after extensive airplay by Simon Bates on BBC Radio 1, the song was issued in the UK, and got to number 43 in the UK singles chart. Jack Hennig (born August 26, 1946, in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Jimmy Arthur Ordge
James Arthur Ordge (1935 – July 1, 2016) was a Canadian country music recording artist. Ordge scored two Canadian Number-One country singles with his 1967 release “Irena Cheyenne” and his 1970 release “The Ballad of Muk Tuk Annie”. He was a Country Male Vocalist of the Year nominee for the Juno Awards of 1978. His 1981 Doré Records single release, “Stay Away From Jim”, made the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, peaking at number 89 on July 24, 1981. Ordge died of cancer on July 1, 2016, at age 80. The Juno Awards of 1978, representing Canadian music industry achievements of the previous year, were awarded on 29 March 1978 in Toronto at a ceremony hosted for a second consecutive year by David Steinberg at the Harbour Castle Hilton Convention Centre. A 2-hour broadcast of the ceremonies was available nationally on CBC Television. 1500 people were present at the ceremonies. At a news conference following the awards, on 31 March 1978, Stompin' Tom Connors announced he would return his Juno trophies to awards organiser CARAS as a protest against rewarding "Juno jumpers" or artists who do not maintain a residence or presence in Canada.
